Lukather Larkin – Opie Self Portrait

To complete my Opie self-portrait I had to use many of the tools Photoshop gave me such as the Auto select tool, pencil and brush tool and the fill bucket. First of all I had to change the name of the original photo layer to back it up and so I know that is the original image. Then I selected my hair

using the auto select tool: And every time I selected a part of me such as the skin, shirt or jacket I had to copy that selection and fill it is with a block colour that is close to the colour of whatever im filling in, I

did this using the fill bucket tool . Sometimes after filling in what I needed too there was still a gap where the background was because I miss out some of what I was selecting. When I accidentally did this I had to

use the pencil tool to fill in what I missed and to get the colour I had to use the dabber to select the

colour I wanted. I then did the same thing when I added Lewis into my portrait. I found some of the auto selecting a bit challenging because it was really a case of trial and error. I over came this issue by being patient and taking my time with the selecting of certain items of clothing. I think I was very successful with this brief as I did all my work quickly and efficiently. Next time I would put more detail into little thing on my portrait such as more detail on my jacket, hair and shirt. I would also outline everything I did using the pencil tool to make everything stand out more and look bolder.
