The Power Is In The Seed• Isaiah 55:10 "For as the rain comes down, and the snow from

heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

• Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

• Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

The Power Is In The Seed

• If people are going to be truly converted, it won’t be through smooth speech or fancy presentations, but through the life changing truth of the gospel

• True conversion will only occur if we plant the proper “seed”

Page 5: LUKE 8:4-8, LUKE 8:11-15

The Results Are Dependent Upon The Soil

• Ezekiel 3:17 "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me: 18 When I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die,' and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. 19 Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.

• Matthew 10:14 And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. 15 Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!

• Acts 13:44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, "It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

The Results Are Dependent Upon The Soil

• We need to learn the joy of sharing the Word for it’s own sake.– There is joy in sharing Christ with others– Whether or not people accept Him, we are glad to serve our

Lord in this capacity.• Our goals should center on how many people are being

taught, not converted.– Even the most faithful teachers may find themselves in

circumstances like Jeremiah or Jesus. ***– Every time we sow the seed, we are successful! If a person

rejects it, we haven’t failed… they have!

The Sower’s Proper Place • 1Corinthians 3:5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers

through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

• Philippians 1:15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from good will: 16 The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; 17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.

• 1Corinthians 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Sowing and Reaping

• 2Corinthians 9:6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. – In the parable of the sower, only one out of four

produced the desired result.• The key to success is to increase the # of efforts!• This in mind, we should be focused on how many are

being taught, not how many are converted.

Page 9: LUKE 8:4-8, LUKE 8:11-15

Sometimes one sows, & another reaps

• John 4:35 Do you not say, 'There are still four months and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! 36 And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 For in this the saying is true: 'One sows and another reaps.' 38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors."

Page 10: LUKE 8:4-8, LUKE 8:11-15

Sometimes one sows, & another reaps

• This means that sometimes you will be sowing the seed and it seems like you aren’t getting any results.

• Then again, there will be times when others seemingly tend to just come your way.

• The point is that evangelism involves both “sowing” and “reaping”

God Is At Work

• Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

• Acts 18:9 Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, "Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; 10 for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city." 11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. – The Lord knows there are people who would be

receptive to His Word

Page 12: LUKE 8:4-8, LUKE 8:11-15

God Is At Work

• 1Corinthians 3:5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. 8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 9 For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, you are God's building.

Page 13: LUKE 8:4-8, LUKE 8:11-15

God Opens Doors For Workers• 1Corinthians 16:9 For a great and effective door has opened to me, and

there are many adversaries. • 2Corinthians 2:12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's

gospel, and a door was opened to me by the Lord, 13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I departed for Macedonia.

• Revelation 3:8 I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.

• 2Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity." 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. 21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.

Prayer And Evangelism• Acts 10:1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a

centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, 2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always. 3 About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, "Cornelius!" 4 And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, "What is it, lord?" So he said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

• Acts 10:9 The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.

• Colossians 4:3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,

In Conclusion

• Persistence is the key; those who persist in sowing the seed will eventually bear fruit.

• The wrong perspectives or views will only produce negative attitudes and eventual failure.

• The right views maintain positive attitudes and eventual success. – 1Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren,

be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
