Our CommunityThe Town of Lunenburg in Nova Scotia, Canada was formally established in 1753 as the first British settlement in Nova Scotia outside of Halifax. These early settlers were from various parts of Germany, Switzerland and the Montbeliard region of France. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995, Lunenburg is a cultural gem attracting thousands of visitors each year to see its unique architectural beauty and outstanding harbour setting. There are a variety of fine accommodations and gourmet restaurants available in Lunenburg. The many talents of the people of Lunenburg and surrounding area are displayed in the craft stores, art galleries, specialty shops, and Marine-Industrial suppliers. Lunenburg is closer than many think to the eastern seaboard of the United States - just 400 nautical miles from Newport, Rhode Island.
