Day 1 Welcome to Cape Town, South AfricaAfter being greeted at the airport by an AmaWaterways Representative, you’ll be transferred to the beautiful Cape Grace Hotel. The hotel is situated on a private quay between Cape Town’s bustling V&A Waterfront and a tranquil yacht marina, with views of the spectacular Table Mountain. In the evening, get to know your Tour Director and fellow travelers at the Welcome Reception. (WR)

Day 2 Cape Town – Cape of Good HopeEmbark on a full-day exploration along one of the world’s most stunning routes, taking you past the 12 Apostles, Hout Bay and Chapman’s Peak. We will stop at the Cape of Good Hope, the most south western point in Africa and a significant landmark. We’ll visit Boulders Beach, home to a colony of thousands of African Penguins. Enjoy time walking on the boardwalk to get up close views of these adorable birds. For lunch, we will be treated to a beautiful spot overlooking False Bay. (B, L)

Day 3Cape Town – Cape WinelandsToday, we’ll take a drive through some of the city’s most diverse neighborhoods and take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain. Enjoy spectacular views from this prominent landmark overlooking the city of Cape Town. Enjoy a trip to the Cape Winelands, where you’ll visit two of its best vineyards, complete with wine tasting. You may also choose to explore another side of Cape Town with a ferry ride and tour of Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. (B, L)

Day 4Kasane, Botswana – Zambezi QueenFly to Kasane, Botswana (via Johannesburg), where you’ll be transferred to the Chobe River. Tender boats will take you to the luxurious Zambezi Queen for a unique African river experience. As a guest on the Zambezi Queen, you’ll enjoy a truly unique river safari in complete comfort and elegance. In the evening, enjoy a Welcome Cocktail Reception and Dinner. (B, D)

Day 5Zambezi QueenEmbark on an exhilarating morning boat safari exploring the Chobe River’s diverse wildlife. Each

day, you’ll venture out by tender boat to get up close and personal with huge herds of elephant, buffalo, lion, crocodile, zebra and more that are drawn to the water. In the afternoon, you’ll meet an environmentalist on board, who’ll share his insight on Chobe National Park. (B, L, D)

Day 6Zambezi Queen – 4 x 4 SafariJoin a full-day safari of Chobe National Park in open-top 4x4 vehicles. Be on the lookout for elephants, giraffe, zebra, sable, warthog and cape buffalo. For lunch, take a seat under the trees and savor a delicious picnic. (B, L, D)

Day 7Zambezi QueenVisit a typical African village, where you’ll spend time with the village children as well as its elders. Back on board and following lunch, you’ll have a choice to take a boat safari, bird watch or fish. Enjoy your last evening aboard with a festive African-themed dinner hosted by your crew. (B, L, D)

Day 8Disembark - Victoria Falls, ZimbabweGo on a slightly different version of a river safari aboard a double-decker barge, providing an unusual viewpoint to observe hippos and elephants before transferring to Victoria Falls. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon, and in the evening, join a cocktail reception aboard a vintage steam train. (B)

Day 9Victoria FallsA local guide will take you on a tour of the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls. It was described by the Kololo tribe as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ – ‘The Smoke that Thunders’ and now, known as Victoria Falls is the greatest curtain of falling water in the world. In the evening, embark on a private sunset cruise along the Zambezi River, observing a variety of game while enjoying a delicious mix of tapas with drinks, followed by dinner at the hotel. (B, D)

Day 10Victoria Falls – Rovos RailToday, you’ll be treated to a home-hosted lunch and afterwards board the Rovos Rail at the Victoria Falls colonial-era rail station. Rovos Rail has earned an international reputation for its truly world-class travel

experiences and known as the most luxurious train in the world. (B, L, D)

Day 11Rovos Rail - Hwange Game ReserveStart the morning with a safari to the Hwange Game Reserve, Zimbabwe’s largest national park, boasting a tremendous selection of wildlife with over 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 different birds. The elephants of Hwange are world famous and the park’s elephant population is one of the largest in the world. After your safari, return to the train for a lovely brunch as you travel through the vast landscapes of central Zimbabwe on the way to Mbalabala. Take in the southern African landscape from the lounge, observation cars or your deluxe suite. (B, L, D)

Day 12Rovos Rail - GwandaStop in the village of Gwanda with time to stroll at your leisure. Travel through Baobab tree country, crossing the Limpopo River, and enter South Africa in the town of Musina for border formalities. (B, L, D)

Day 13Rovos Rail - Polokwane Nature ReserveCross the Tropic of Capricorn and then visit the Polokwane Nature Reserve home to more than 20 species of wildlife including the white rhino. Continue your journey south through Warmbaths (Bela-Bela) and onto Pretoria. (B, L, D)

Day 14Pretoria - JohannesburgThis morning, your train journey comes to a close as we arrive into Pretoria, South Africa’s capital. We will travel to Johannesburg and make a stop at Liliesleaf Farm, one of country’s foremost heritage sites. The Farm has a tumultuous history and was used as a secret headquarters from 1961 and 1963 for several underground liberation organizations. Afterward head over the Fairlawns Boutique Hotel, situated in a parklike setting for an enjoyable lunch. Later today, transfer to the airport to connect with your onward flight. (B, L)Note: Please do not schedule your onward flight until after 4:00 p.m.

SAFARI EXTENSION TO KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

DAY 1 (May 25) Rovos Rail – JohannesburgThis morning, your elegant train adventure comes to a close, but not before you enjoy one last breakfast on board and a final scenic voyage. After your morning arrival in Pretoria, South Africa, head into Johannesburg and make a stop at Liliesleaf Farm, one of South Africa’s foremost heritage sites. The Farm has a tumultuous history and was used as a secret headquarters from 1961 and 1963 for several underground liberation organizations. Afterward head over the Fairlawns Boutique Hotel, situated in a parklike setting for an enjoyable lunch and overnight. The rest of the day is at leisure and be sure to take advantage of your hotel’s amenities including a world-class Spa and lovely swimming pool. (B, L)

DAY 2 Johannesburg – Fly to Hoedspruit - SAFARIAfter breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport in Johannesburg and fly to Hoedspruit (one-hour flight) in the Kruger National Park area. Upon arrival, you will be met by our representative, after you pass through the arrivals hall. From here, you will be escorted to your five star, all-inclusive lodge to begin your safari experience. Later this afternoon head out into the bush for your first land safari experience in the Kruger Park area. (B, L, D)Tintswalo Safari Lodge

DAYS 3 - 4Greater Kruger National ParkBegin each morning with an early game drive in an open-air vehicle for 3-4 hours. Explore your private game reserve, located a stone’s throw away from Kruger National Park and surrounded by game-rich country. The rest of each morning can be spent enjoying the facilities at your lodge. The afternoons bring another game drive into the bush where you may encounter South Africa’s top predators: cheetahs, hyenas, and lions. This region is also home to many South African raptors, which you might see soaring high overhead. Return to your lodge in the evenings for dinner and perhaps get in some additional game watching from the terrace of your guest room. (B, L, D daily)

DAYS 5Greater Kruger National Park – Hoedspruit – Fly to JohannesburgEarly this morning, you will depart for your final game drive, returning to the lodge for breakfast. Afterwards you will transfer back to the Hoedspruit airport for your flight back to Johannesburg. On arrival, you will be met and given assistance checking in to your flight back to North America. (B) Note: Please do not schedule homebound flights before 4:30 pm.
