From Jon Gordon: 10 Rules For The Ride of Your Life 1. You're the driver of your bus. 2. Desire, vision, and focus move your bus in the right direction. 3. Fuel your ride with positive energy. Your positive energy and vision must be greater than anyone's and every- one's negativity. Your certainty must be greater than everyone's doubt. Positive energy is like muscle. The more you use it the stronger it gets. The stronger it gets the more powerful you become. Repetition is the key and the more you focus on positive energy the more it become your natural state. 4. Invite people on your bus and share your vision for the road ahead. 5. Don't waste your energy on those who don't get on your bus. 6. Post a sign that says NO ENERGY VAMPIRES ALLOWED on your bus. 7. Now Let’s Make it the Best 2nd Quarter Ever!!!!

Direct sales are one of the key pillars of Colonial Life’s success, and small employers have always been a big part of our business. As a result, we’ve designed a special contest for second quarter that focuses on the direct market with special emphasis on accounts with fewer than 100 employees.

If you’re a winner in this second quarter contest, you’ll enjoy a luxurious and amazing trip to Seattle, Aug. 21 through 24, 2014.

Grand prize winners will win the trip to famous Seattle.

Level 1 winners will receive 200,000 prize points to select great prizes at the prize point website.

Top sales people in the Direct Summit sales contest will win a trip to lovely Seattle, WA, August 21-24, 2014. They will be able to visit the Seattle Center, home of the iconic Space Needle. The Space Needle has been a Seattle landmark since 1962 when it was constructed for the World’s Fair. Take the 41 second ride up 520 feet and stick close to the windows. As you head up, Seattle reveals its green and blue glory beneath you. Once on deck, take time to soak in the spectacular 360 view of Emerald City. Point and plan what to visit next!

Walking distance from the Space Needle is a Mecca for music lovers, the Experience Music Project mu-seum. A homage to Seattle native and guitar legend Jimi Hendrix, the museum is a music lover’s dream with interac-tive exhibits and a world-renown collection of rock-n-roll memorabilia. Plus Dick’s Drive-In, can’t miss that!

You can also get your shopping fix at nearby Pacific Place and Westlake Center, home of the flagship Nordstrom department store, or head to the Ballard Locks to watch the boats move from the salt water Puget Sound to the fresh water Lake Union. You might even see the sea lions who visit the locks for a chance to catch a salmon dinner.

The contest starts March 30, and runs through June 28. Check out the contest qualifica-tions and don’t miss your chance to walk the yellow brick road into the Emerald City!

CLA / TASC National Partnership Announced

The following is an email that we received (it was specifically forwarded to Steve Polk) that came from TASC corporate to their field force: We (TASC) are rolling out a national relationship with Colonial Life. They will be offering ERISA Edge to their small and large group clients. An overview of Colonial’s POPS program is below. POPS Program: Colonial will subsidize the employer’s first year fees if the employer (100+) agree to allow the Colonial enrollers to meet with 75% of their employees. Also, they will offer ERISA Edge to their current and future clients at the attached Service Pricing-ERISA Edge pdf (see p 7). Our RSD’s will be referred to the client by their respective Colonial counterparts once the meeting with the employees (75%) has taken place and is verified by Colonial corporate. This process is outlined in the attached Colonial Life Process word doc (see p 8). Colonial is making this program available nationally and announced it at their Leadership Development Conference at the beginning of January. Nathan and Chris Kinley attended and received very positive feedback along with a stack of business cards to follow up with. In the next couple of weeks each Colonial territory will be holding Territory Kick Off meetings and many have asked for our RSD’s to attend or join via webinar and introduce TASC, our products and discuss the relationship. Carolyn has already provided two ERISA training sessions for Colonial’s top Premier Offices and has two more scheduled at the beginning of February. We will make this available to any Colonial agency that wants greater detail on ERISA law and our product.

Leaders’ Conference/President’s Club 2015 Top 10 Things to do on Grand Cayman Island

5. Go to Hell: For a fun, quick stop, head over to Hell, just north of the Seven Mile Beach in West Bay. Visit the tacky gift shop and see the "devil" himself. Behind the shop, take a look at the million-year-old calcareous rock that has been blackened by fungus over time, leading to its name. Be sure to mail a postcard from Hell, complete with the official postmark. (see pic below left)

6. Boatswain’s Beach: (see pic above right) Boatswain’s Beach is the name of the new 30-acre marine theme park that is the expansion of the Cayman Turtle Farm. When Christopher Columbus first discovered the islands in 1503, he named them "Las Tortugas," meaning The Turtles. Accord-ing to legend, there were so many turtles that the islands looked like they were covered with rocks. Located in Grand Cayman, the Turtle Farm has been in operation since 1968 and has since been dedicated to educating the public on the benefits of a proactive conservation program for sea turtles. The world’s only commercial Green Sea Turtle farm, it is home to over 16,000 sea turtles, ranging in size from six ounces to six hundred pounds! From the tiniest hatchlings to six hundred pound adults swimming in the one million gallon, breeding pond, guests can experience all of the life stages of these magnificent creatures. Visitors to the farm are welcome to participate in sponsoring the re-lease of their own turtle into the wild each year. The new attraction of Boatswain’s Beach will be a 1.3 Million Gallon Saltwater Snorkel Lagoon where visitors can swim with turtles and other marine life, a Predator Tank (viewable by snorkelers), an Aviary and Iguana sanctuary, a Nature Trail and “Blue Hole” Sunken Cave, Caymanian Heritage Street with porch-side artisans and crafts and res-taurants featuring classic and contemporary Caymanian cuisine, and a state of the art research and educational facility focusing on the conservation of sea turtles. Go to their web site. 7. Butterfly Farm is an unforgettable encounter with nature in all its beauty and diversity. Step into a tropical garden teeming with butterflies from around the globe and prepare to meet some of the world's most colorful creatures. Observe the life cycle of these fascinating animals from egg to cater-pillar to chrysalis to butterfly, while a tour guide entertains you with commentary on butterfly habits and the miracle of metamorphosis. Arrive early and witness new butterflies emerging from the chrysalis and taking their first flight. The Butterfly Farm is a rare opportunity for photography and a sure delight for visitors of all ages. An admission ticket also gives you a free pass for the rest of your vacation so you can enjoy the butterflies as often as you like! Located on Lawrence Road in George Town, the farm's last tour is 3:30 PM daily. Go to their web site.

2nd Qtr 2014 RACE: Colonial Life’s 75th Anniversary (April 14, 2014 to April 18, 2014)

Introduction

What is the RACE event? Real Activity Creates Excitement (RACE) events occur when you

dedicate a week (or two) to help your teams understand the value of fo-cused selling activities. Prospecting RACE events are designed to help participants promote the Colonial Life decision maker value proposition by going directly to new prospects.

The theme for this RACE event is “Celebrating 75 years,” and it will focus on new account prospecting and rework opportunities. In this guide, you’ll find information to walk you through developing a successful event for your territory.

As we celebrate our anniversary, we want employers to know that we can provide benefit solutions that fit their budgets. With our help, they can offer their employees the financial protection they need.

Why is it important? Success in the direct sales market begins with prospecting. Prospect-ing is an important part of a successful agent’s routine. Why? Prospecting leads to appointments, appointments lead to decision maker presentations, and decision maker presentations lead to sales. Use the sales funnel formula (see p. 13 as well) to fill in your own metrics, and show your team how real activities can create decision maker meetings:
