THE PROJECTThe Alliance Française de Sydney and other languages schools - such as the Goethe Institute, the Institute Cervantes, etc… - were chosen by the NSW Department of Education and Training to teach their Culture and Language through a system of connected classrooms.
Public:Kids from Year 2 to Year 4
Goal: • Teach the French language• Share cultural facts
Method:•Creation of a character : Kadel, a kangaroo•Creation of a “Tour de France” to visit the different regions.•Each stage of the adventure has its own linguistic theme,
colours...
THEMES & TOOLS
Discovery of the French regions through a character and its own adventures. Pupils will follow Kadel the Kangaroo around France’s beautiful regions.
Each Lesson focuses on a specific objective : enhancing vocabulary, grammar, oral production…
This workshop consists of 5 units of 2 lessons each (1h/lesson).
With Kadel your students will enjoy learning French with various fun activities!
THE TRIAL, LESSON 3
This stage of the journey takes place in Normandy – Brittany
Cultural point: Crepes
Linguistic point: follow a recipe (vocabulary, imperative form…)

FRENCH TALESEvery week, the Alliance Française de Sydney organises an hour of story time for children from 2 to 5 years old and their parents. These tales allow children to discover French folklore through timeless stories that are illustrated with songs, games and craft activities!

CLASSES FOR KIDSKids Term CoursesAll year long, the Alliance Française de Sydney offers French courses for kids from 4 to 12 years old. These courses take place once a week (either on Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday) for two hours. The main goal of this course is to acquire the basics of French in a fun environment with games, songs and group activities.Kids Holiday CoursesFour times a year, we offer intensive courses for kids from 4 to 12 years old. These courses take place during school holidays, Monday to Thursday from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. The main goal of this course is to acquire the basics of French in a fun environment with games, songs and group activities.
CLASSES FOR TEENAGERSHigh School Term Courses
All year long, the Alliance Française de Sydney offers French courses for teenagers from 12 to 18 years old. These courses take place once a week (from Monday to Thursday) from 4:30pm to 6pm.Based on the NSW Board of Studies syllabus, the main goal is to gain fluency in French.
High School Holiday CoursesFour times a year, we offer intensive courses for teenagers from 12 to 18 years old. These courses take place during school holidays, Monday to Thursday from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Based on the NSW Board of Studies syllabus, the main goal of these courses is to deal with difficult linguistic aspects of every level with authentic documents and native teachers.

DECOUVERTE CULTURELLE WORKSHOP
This workshop aims to break down the stereotypes about France and discover its culture in a new light: no more ‘baguettes’ under the arm and ‘bérets’. Let’s go on a six step journey in the heart of France and get familiar with its customs and regions through its gastronomy, geography, history, cinema, music and museums.

LE FRANCAIS DANS LE MONDE WORKSHOP

The French language can be found all around the world. The « Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie » is the institution in charge of promoting its diversity, literature, diplomatic impact and teaching methods. All French speaking countries have a language in common but various cultural traditions, accents and idioms. Do the students know the Quebecois accent and idioms? The African mottos ? The Kanak traditions (natives of New Caledonia) ?Come on board for a linguistic and cultural trip around the world with this workshop !

CONCOURS DES ECOLESNEW SOUTH WALES FRENCH CHALLENGEThese Alliance Française de Sydney exams are based on the NSW Board of Studies Syllabus. Students are tested on their listening, reading and writing skills.The best students of participating schools will be selected to take part in the « La Pérouse » Competition. Deadline to enrol : 11 April 2014.
LE CONCOURS « LA PEROUSE »Students previously selected will take an oral exam and the 2014 ‘Grand’ winner will be rewarded with a 5-weeks immersion experience in France. Oral exam : July 2014.
LES COMPETITIONS DES ECOLESConcours de chansons, soirée Ciné, Calendrier de la Francophonie, lettres d’amour… Please send us your creations by 30 August 2014.
