Create or continue process of using CFNC.org

Labor Market Projections
Skilled Laborers are needed in current job market!
Two-year degree earners make more than some individuals with Bachelors and Masters degrees.
Many students graduating from a four-year college have trouble finding a job, while two-year college graduates have a job before graduation.

Articulated Credits
North Carolina High School to Community College Articulation Agreement.
To receive articulated credit, students must enroll at the community college within two years of their school graduation date and meet the following criteria: Final grade of B or higher in the course, and A score of 93, or higher, on the standardized
CTE post-assessment.

Current freshman and sophomores Students will be fast-tracked through their
general high school courses to maximize time for college level courses
Two areas: Nursing Assistant and Medical Assisting

Career Awareness Fairs
• Held at all high schools (including STAR Academy) in the fall of the year
• Attended by students during their Sophomore year

Career Awareness Presentations
Presentations are made to the Senior English classes at all high schools to cover: Professional dress Interviewing skills “Soft Skills” that employers see are
lacking in today’s workforce

Career Exploration Activities
• Criminal Justice• Laser and Photonics• Radio Broadcasting• Manufacturing• Health Sciences (in
conjunction with local hospitals)
Workshops/Seminars that have been made available to students in the high schools in the following areas:

Job Shadowing
Spend a day with a professional in the community Students are not counted absent from school Open to all students in Harnett County High Schools Over 400 job shadowing opportunities during 2013-2014

Harnett Youth Apprenticeship Program
Focus on Manufacturing In conjunction with CCCC and local
manufacturing business and industry Applications will be accepted beginning

Internships HCS has networked with local businesses
and industries to establish internship opportunities for juniors and seniors in our high schools.
Several students participated in internships this summer at the following businesses:• Harnett Health • Harnett County Sheriff's Department• Erwin Police Department• Harnett County Schools• Seed Planters Academic Learning
