Lyric breakdown
The sun gleams in
Hear the magpies sing for sorrow
It makes things better
Maybe we'll get to spread
Our wings tomorrow
If luck will let us
Can anyone fly into these grey skies?
Is there somewhere I'm meant to be?
Sea fog comes like a river
Rolls a stone it's rolling me
I missed my turn
In the dark I hear your voice
It makes things easy
I’ve strayed too far from the road
Wish she could always make things easy
And I won't fight through the rising tide
If that’s the way it has to be
Sea fog comes like a river
Rolls a stone it's rolling me
Sea fog comes like a river
Rolls a stone it's rolling me
Sea fog rolling
Sea fog rolling
Sea fog rolling
The song speaks about the sunbeams coming though the window. And he is talking about normal things like hearing the birds sing. For this I will re create a normal setting e.g. house window. Adding smoke to create that beam. And try to capture birds flying over or sat in trees. I could even have a shot of the lead looking at a picture of someone he has lost to add to that sorrow lyric
Then the lyrics talk about ‘spreading our wings tomorrow if luck will let us’ meaning that some people want to get away from where they are to a place that he should be. For this the lead singer will be looking at a picture of the love he has lost. He will look sad and awful, something he can’t get over.
The other idea for can anyone fly in to these grey skies, I will have a drone that will be remote controlled flying up in the air in a open field and I will try and get some sky shots of the ground which I think will represent this part well.
For the chorus I will have a performance setup in the theatre where I will have a piano with the lead singer singing this part I will have beams coming from theatre lights using a hazer
For the verse I will have a scene where the lead singer is on a bike going down a road passing street lights that light him up in areas and then he comes to a cross roads where he chooses the wrong turn and therefore misses the one he should be on.
For the link to tide I am going to have the lead singer walking down the beach on a cloudy day. I will have quick flash backs to emphasize the love that he has lost, which will show him and the person who has gone together.
For the chorus leading in to the ending I will have the shot back in the theatre where I will have the live performance showing the singer playing the piano in a spot light and there will be a cloud of spot lights surrounding and beams and video projection showing rain and clouds and fog. And then at the end on the last word the love of his life comes though the door and he breaks down.
Possible cut shots. - to grey flashback
scenes of both together
- to hands playing piano when shot is in different locations
