#1 validation of the guidelinesEstablishing health and safety protocols is essential for your facilities to
understand the mitigation measures to be implemented.
Elements of your protocols may include:
COVID-19 Policies, Procedures and their Communication;
Physical and Social Distancing Measures;
Hygiene, Disinfection and Prevention;
Personal Protective Equipment;
Employee Protection;
Supplier Management;
HVAC and Air Circulation;
Equipment Risk; and
Water / Legionella Risk, etc.
Bureau Veritas have developed sector specific guidelines and checklists based on global most
recognised Best Practices and Recommendations related to Preventive Measures to be
applied for a safer business restart after COVID-19 lockdown period.
Collaboratively with our clients, we define the control points that they
will be independently audited against.

SELF-ASSESSMENT QUESTIONNAIRE
The validated control points are broken into questions that each
facility is asked to answer to assess their readiness for an
independent audit.
The Self-Assessment Questionnaire typically covers the following “umbrella”
elements:
Process: policies and procedures developed to protect employees and maintain business
continuity.
Hygiene: actions specific to maintaining good hygiene in premises.
People: subjects specific to people´s behaviour such as social distancing, PPE and employee
protection.
Facilities: controls in place related to the facility itself including equipment inspection and
maintenance.
Completed SAQs are reviewed by a Bureau Veritas Auditor and if the facility is deemed to
be ready, an independent audit will be scheduled.

INDEPENDENT AUDIT
A site audit is conducted by an experienced Bureau Veritas Health
and Safety professional to evaluate the effectiveness and
application of the measures implemented at facility level.
The site audit is conducted through documentation review, visual observations and
interviews with local site personnel.
Each control point is assessed against the requirements of the guidelines and categorised
as per below:
Compliant: the company has all elements in place to meet the requirement; or
Non-Compliant: the company has little or no elements in place to meet the
requirement.

GRANT THE LABEL
At the end of the audit, the facility will
have 10 working days to rectify and
close any Non-Compliant findings.
When findings have been addressed, Bureau Veritas
will issue a compliance certificate and SafeGuard
label to the facility to publicly promote its
achievement.
