LETTERS TO THE EDITORPost Office not issuing ATM cardsSir, I opened a savings bank account in K.K.

Nagar Post Office. But even after 3 months, Ihave still not received my ATM card.

According to a staff member, the branch hasnot received ATM cards from the Head Office forthe past 6 months as the Postal Department is inthe process of introducing online transactions.

I wonder how that will replace ATM card forcash withdrawal. I have also written about thisto ‘The Senior Superintendent of Post Offices’(Chennai City South Division, Chennai 17), buthave not received any reply.

No piped water in Muthalamman Koil Street for 8 monthsSir, I am a resident of Ganesh Flats, Muthalamman Koil Street, West Mambalam. The street has

not been receiving piped water supply for more than 8 months. My grievance was published inMambalam Times in September, but till date no action has been taken by Metrowater officials torestore piped water supply. The residents are forced to spend exorbitant amounts to buy waterthrough tankers in spite of paying Metrowater taxes regularly. Off-late, the Metrowater officialsare using the excuse of water shortage for non supply when we pursue the complain, but the realityis that we have not been receiving for over 8 months. Recently when there was a similar problemin Postal Colony, Metrowater replaced the 70-year-old pipeline to solve the problem. I once againappeal to the officials concerned to inspect the long standing problem and resume piped watersupply in Muthalamman Koil Street. N. Vijayaraghavan, West Mambalam.

Flyover can ease congestion in 1stAvenue, Ashok Nagar

Sir, There is heavy traffic congestion in 1stAvenue, Ashok Nagar throughout the day.Motorists and pedestrians coming on 8th, 9th and10th Avenue find it tough to cross the road toreach Metro station or ESIC Hospital.

Even the traffic policemen stationed duringpeak hours at these junctions struggle to regulatethe traffic. The congestion is only going to getworse with TNHB announcing the constructionof the 22-storey building to replace the oldshopping complex on 1st Avenue.

Shortage of 6000-liter tankers with MetrowaterSir, Metrowater has only around 50 numbers 6000-liter tankers at its disposal. It has higher

number of 9000-liter tankers, even though the demand is more for 6000-liter tankers.It is leading to heavy demand and delay in supply. The sump capacity in our 30-year-old apartment

Metro Rail launches feederservice to IT hubsBy Our Staff Reporter

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has tied up with Ford’s CorporateShuttle Feeder Services to launch ‘Office Ride’ - last mile connectivityto passengers, particularly in the IT sector.

The service was launched in Alandur Metro Station on Jan. 30.According to a CMRL official, the service is similar to share taxis or

vans and link metro stations with major IT hubs at affordable rates.A total of five wi-fi enabled vehicles each with seating capacity of

about 12 was launched. As of now, nine trips each from 8am to 12pmand from 5pm to 9pm have been planned.

Presently, there is feeder service from Alandur metro station to Elcotand Sipcot. Later, it will be extended to other stations such as AnnaNagar East, Anna Nagar Tower, Koyambedu, Ashok Nagar and AG-DMS.

Office Ride also has a mobile app which works like those operated byother cab aggregators. Commuters will have to enter their pickup anddrop location upon downloading the app.

The service functions on crowd-sourced route suggestions to improvecommutes.

South Boag Road, NorthBoag Road, Narasimhan Roadand a portion of G.N. ChettyRoad, Venkatanarayana Roadand Vijayaraghava Road havebeen one-way since 2012 whenconstruction for the tunnelsand the three underground sta-tions on Anna Salai began.

According to officials ofChennai Metro Rail Ltd(CMRL), they have alreadygiven the go-ahead to trafficpolice in December to restore2-way traffic on these roads.
