HIGH SPEED CRASH DASHESMICHAEL’S HOPES FOR NATIONAL TITLE
he 2013 Rotax Nationals were held
at Puckapunyal Victoria, 29th August
to 1st September. This was Michael’s
first attempt at a National Title, he was
looking forward to a good result. But
with 51 Junior Rotax drivers all vying for
a place on the grid, it was going to be
tough. Thursday saw the Jmax drivers hit
the track for private practice, the
weather was fine and all drivers were
concentrating in getting their kart set-up
for the high speed track. Puckapunyal
kart track is by far the fastest track that
the Rotax Protour races at. Down the
long straight-a-way, Jmax karts were do-
ing in excess of 125 kph. Michael fin-
ished Thursday in high spirits, he felt his
times were very close to the main con-
tenders and was looking forward to going
even faster on Friday.
T Unfortunately during Friday practice,
Michael was involved in a high speed
crash, hitting the tyre wall at over
110kph. “That was ridiculous , being hit
up the back on such a fast corner is not
on, especially during a practice session. I
tried to control the kart, but came off
the track and hit the wet grass, I just be-
came a passenger and went straight into
the tyre barrier. It looks like my weekend
is finished, we will try and straighten the
kart the best we can, but I think my
chances are over” Michael commented.
Needless to say, the accident did ruin
Michael's chances, but he persevered for
the rest of the weekend only to be in-
volved in a first corner incident during
the final race.
I just became a
passenger and
went straight
into the tyre
barrier.
or the remaining 2013 season and
continuing into 2014, will see Michael
Fabri stepping up into the senior karting
category. Michael will be contesting the
DD2 Rotax class in a Exprit Kart under the
watchful eye of Project X racing team
principal, William Yarwood.
Introduced in 2002, the DD2 engine is the
two-speed version of the Senior MAX
engine. Having the most power and torque,
DD2 is the fastest class in the Rotax Pro
Tour event. The engine produces an out-
standing 34 horsepower, which is substan-
tially more compared to the 22 horsepower
that the JMAX engine produces.
It’s time! Michael moves to the senior ranks
Tristan Ellery in full flight
driving his DD2. Michael is
looking forward to racing
wheel to wheel with Tristan
in the DD2 class
The DD2 class runs a softer compound of
the Mojo tyre and also front and rear
brakes, which brings a completely new
dimension in driving these karts. Michael
will be competing in the 2014 Rotax Pro
Tour events which will kick off at Albury
in October this year. The prestigious
Rotax Nationals will be held at Ipswich
Kart Club as the concluding round of the
Pro Tour season in September of 2014.
Michael is looking forward to this event
as it is his home circuit and is hoping he
can gain a good result.

Michael Fabri meetswith motor racing guru,Greg Woodrow
n motor racing Greg Woodrow knows
more than most. As a champion Karter
and Formula Ford driver and now as
the importer of Mygale's race-winning
Formula Ford and Formula 3 cars he's
seen many a talented driver come and
go.
That’s why when the head of Mygale
Australia and Gforce Event Management,
Greg Woodrow, sat down with rising star
Michael Fabri to talk about his future in
Australian Motorsport and in particular
the move to Formula Ford racing,
Michael listened intently to every word
Greg had to say.
In a lengthy meeting, Greg Woodrow
kindly explained in detail the future of
Formula Ford racing in Australia. Greg
gave Michael insight into ways to gain
entry and succeed in such a tough sport.
He shared his and other young race
drivers success stories and experiences
and explained it takes determination,
courage, perseverance and a positive
outlook.
I
Now, in an effort to help young drivers
move from Karting into circuit racing,
and to help them avoid many of the
pitfalls that have befallen plenty of
talented drivers in the past, Woodrow
and his team have launched Race
Academy. It is through this Academy
that Greg has decided to test Michael
in a 2010 model Mygale Formula Ford
racing car at Winton Motor Raceway on
the 18th October 2013. Michael will
be spending a few days with Greg prior
to the test so he can familiarise him-
self with the car and have seat and
pedal fitting.
Greg Woodrow, head of MygaleAustralia announces FormulaFord test for Michael Fabri“After my meeting with Michael, I am pretty impressed with the way he presents
himself and he communicates very well,” Greg said.
Greg will also introduce Michael to some
of the current Formula Ford teams and
drivers.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me
especially at my age Greg is definitely
going to open a lot of doors for me. We
will need to see how I go at the test, I
still love racing karts, and I have karting
commitments for the 2013/2014 season. I
hope to be starting my Formula Ford
career in 2014,” Michael commented.
