Public consultation In January and February 2017, we held a

public consultation to gather feedback on

proposed plans to improve junction 25 on the

M25.

Information was available via our website, at

public libraries and events across the area.

Scheme objectives• Reduce congestion and delays at junction

25 between the M25 and the A10

• Increase capacity by widening both the

roundabout, and the A10 southbound

approach

• Improve safety and traffi c flow on the

roundabout by redesigning the layout

• Support future traffi c demands to enable

development and economic growth

• Maintain access for non-motorised users

(pedestrians and cyclists) and improve

conditions wherever possible

• Minimise the environmental effects of this

scheme on local air quality and noise

Options considered at consultation• Option 1 – Extra lanes on roundabout

and widen the A10 southbound approach

• Option 2 – Extra lanes on roundabout,

widen the A10 southbound approach and

M25 approaches, and provide free-fl ow left

turn

Responses to public consultation • 92% agreed that there was a need for

improvement overall

• When asked about key concerns relating to

the junction improvements most concerns

were around congestion (95%), construction

impacts (81%), and road safety (80%)

• 77% supported Option 2 over Option 1

The preferred route is Option 2

Following an in depth analysis of all your

feedback, we will now proceed with Option 2.

This will improve journey times through the

junction and allow more capacity on the off-

slips; reducing the likelihood of traffi c queuing

back onto the M25, particularly into the

Holmesdale Tunnel, delivering major safety

improvements.
