Faith in Action
The MA in Kairos Studies provides students with a unique opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of Kairos from biblical, theological and historical perspectives.
Kairos, a Greek word for “time”, refers to “God’s time” – a concept in sharp contrast to the chronological time by which we most often order our day-to-day lives. Kairos represents God’s “in-breaking” into the times in which we live, providing an essential lens through which we must view, understand and ultimately respond to the realities of our present lives.
This program engages the Global Kairos Movement while continuing the CRCDS legacy of social justice. Through the exploration of Kairos, students will learn how to live out the foundational values of justice and love as they are applied specifically to both global and local contexts, while engaging this growing, transformative movement that incorporates the values of peace and nonviolent resistance.
The MA in Kairos Studies provides students with the concrete tools necessary to speak truth to power, to advocate for the “least of these,” to build communities of radical reconciliation and to boldly proclaim the Gospel.

Opportunities for Global Travel
CRCDS offers travel opportunities, called delegations, for formation and deepening of students personally, professionally and globally. Delegations go not to take but to receive, not to convert but to be transformed. We travel in the spirit of accompaniment--to share the struggles of pursing justice; not because we “know” but because we are open to learn and open to Kairos moments. We return witnesses who speak to the transformation that we have experienced. We tell the stories of the lives of the people who have revealed the Gospel of resurrection hope and radical hospitality. With missionary zeal we proclaim God’s preference for the poor and the marginalized.
Three-Month Immersion Experience
• Accompaniment groups
• Border ministry
• Peace & Justice Work
