the lost city of the incas Machu Picchu
considered as one of the new seven wonders in the modern world
Machu Picchu is also known as the lost city of the incas. It was built
around 1450
The complex is located 2,450 meters above sea level, on a mountain ridge
above the Urubamba Valley.
Around 50 miles northwest of the onetime Inca capital of Cusco
before arriving in Machu Picchu we can see espectacular places for
instance the Patallacta ruins, Kusichaca Valley the ceremonial circle knife
ruins,runkarakay and others
The city sits in a saddle between the two mountains Machu Picchu and
Huayna Picchu.
It`s made of perfect carved and huge stones, in this fortress we can see
fountains and small pools at its highest point the Intiwatana , temples
and the most interesting of all: The Intipunku, and also others.
I think the incas had worked on building this fortress for a very long time.
The most beautiful thing is that it is surrounded by the Urubamba river
which is 15 kilometers long approximately.
But what was Machu Picchu built for?
Well Machu Picchu was the monument of the Inca empire and considered
a mystical place.
Almost three hundred and fifty years later was discovered by american
explorer Hiram Bingham in 1911.
Now who were the Incas?
Well according to history and research, the incas came from the south of
Peru during the 12th century and created the Tawantinsuyu empire.
Machu Picchus iconic image is a pretty good representation is certainly a
