Sea Lullaby

Page 3: Maddy's poetry presentation

The old moon is tarnished With smoke of the flood,

Page 4: Maddy's poetry presentation

The dead leaves are varnished With colour like blood,

Page 5: Maddy's poetry presentation

A treacherous smiler With teeth white as milk,

Page 6: Maddy's poetry presentation

A savage beguiler In sheathings of silk,

Page 7: Maddy's poetry presentation

The sea creeps to pillage, She leaps on her prey;

Page 8: Maddy's poetry presentation

A child of the village Was murdered today.

Page 9: Maddy's poetry presentation

She came up to meet him In a smooth golden cloak,

Page 10: Maddy's poetry presentation

She choked him and beat him To death, for a joke.

Page 11: Maddy's poetry presentation

Her bright locks were tangled, She shouted for joy,

Page 12: Maddy's poetry presentation

With one hand she strangled A strong little boy.

Page 13: Maddy's poetry presentation

Now in silence she lingers Beside him all night

Page 14: Maddy's poetry presentation

To wash her long fingers In silvery light.

We Alone

Page 17: Maddy's poetry presentation

We alone can devalue gold

Page 18: Maddy's poetry presentation

By not caringif it falls or rises in the marketplace.

Page 19: Maddy's poetry presentation

Wherever there is gold there is a chain, you know,

Page 20: Maddy's poetry presentation

and if your chain is goldso much the worse for you

Page 21: Maddy's poetry presentation

Feathers, shells and sea-shaped stones

Page 22: Maddy's poetry presentation

are all as rare.

Page 23: Maddy's poetry presentation

This could be our revolution: to love what is plentiful

Page 24: Maddy's poetry presentation

as much as what's scarce.

We Alone

We alone can devalue goldBy not caring If it falls or risesIn the market place

Wherever there is goldThere is a chain, you know,And if your chainIs goldSo much the worseFor you

Feathers, shellsAnd sea-shaped stonesAre all as rare.

This could be our revolution:

To love what is plentifulAs much asWhat’s scarce.

It’s All I have To Bring Today-

Page 27: Maddy's poetry presentation

It's all I have to bring today -- This, and my heart beside --

Page 28: Maddy's poetry presentation

This, and my heart, and all the fields -- And all the meadows wide --

Page 29: Maddy's poetry presentation

Be sure you count -- should I forget Some one the sum could tell --

Page 30: Maddy's poetry presentation

This, and my heart, and all the Bees Which in the Clover dwell.

It’s All I Have To Bring Today--

It’s all I have to bring today --This, and my heart beside --This, and my heart, and all the fields --And all the meadows wide --Be sure you count -- should I forgetSome one the sum could tell --This, and my heart, and all the BeesWhich the Clover dwell.
