Research Brief: 2016 ACS 5-Year Estimates ReleaseThis release examines new data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2016 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates (2012-2016). The report examines trends in median household income, migration, educational attainment, single-mother families, and healthcare with comparisons to the 2011 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates (2007-2011). Research Report: Population through the Ages Pennsylvania’s elderly population (age 65 and over) grew at 20 times the rate of Pennsylvania’s general population from 2010 to 2016. Persons age 65 years and over accounted for 17.4 percent of Pennsylvania’s population, up from 15.6 percent in 2010. This report analyzes how Pennsylvania’s aging population has affected the state’s dependency ratio since 2010. Click here to read more in this month’s report on aging in the Commonwealth.

2017 Nation and State Population Estimates to be Released The Population Estimates Program (PEP) utilizes annual data on births, deaths, and migration to calculate population change since the most recent decennial census and produce a time series of estimates of population, demographic components of change, and housing units. Data for the state of Pennsylvania and the nation, along with estimates for the other 49 states and Washington, D.C. will be available December 20, 2017.

2016 American Community Survey (ACS) 5-Year Estimates Now Available The 2012 to 2016 ACS estimates provide a variety of demographic and socioeconomic data for all states, counties, and lower geographies (e.g. municipalities, places, tracts) down to the block-group regardless of population size. The 2016 estimates can be compared to other non-overlapping 5-Year estimates such as the 2011 ACS 5-Year Estimates (2007-2011). See our brief for more information. Also, all of our

2016 Annual Survey of Manufacturers The 2014 Annual Survey of Manufacturers (ASM) release includes general statistics, value of products shipments, industry-product analysis and geographic area statistics for 2015 and 2016. The ASM provides data about manufacturing that are crucial to accurate estimates of domestic production and productivity and to making sound decisions on economic trade policies. Companies, business analysts and trade associations use this data in planning investments, production and marketing.
