The UGR (unified glare rating) is an international unified measure developed by the CIE (Commission International de l’Eclairage) to assess the direct glare generated by a lighting system. The European standard regulating the lighting of indoor work places (UNI-EN 12464-1) recommends a specific UGR value for different applications ranging between 10 and 30; the lower the UGR value, the lower the glare. The exact value of this index differs by project type because it depends on the position of the luminaires, room characteristics (dimensions, reflections) and on the point of observation of viewers.

LED switching drivers capable of minimizing flicker.

Lighting and luminaires play a key role in sales. This is why retailers are demanding LED fixtures with CRI>90. The colour rendering index (CRI) indicates how the colours of an object are repro-duced when illuminated by an artificial light

source. It is a scale from 0 to 100, where 0 represents the lowest accuracy and 100 is the maximum accuracy. Daylight is the best source of light from the physiological point of view thanks to the completeness of its colour spectrum; this is why the choice of fixtures with a high colour index is very important to enhance people’s sense of wellbeing and comfort and it is particu-larly needed in rooms where a faithful reproduction of colours is required.

Is quality lighting possible?

Life expectancy

LEDs, unlike traditional sources, will not turn off suddenly when their working life ends, but will slowly fade their initial luminous flux until they turn off completely. In fact, LEDs do not break (except for manufacturing damages) but decay gradually and constantly. The decrease of LED flux is defined by the working life and is represented by the L80 mark

(see chart), which means that the flux is kept up to 80%. The “B” followed by a number ranging between 10 and 50 indicates the quality of the fixture and defines the LED percentage that doesn’t keeps the declared characteristics after 80000 hrs.

EXAMPLE: LED declared L70B20 = 80000 hrsThis means that when the LED reaches 80000 hours of operation, 80% (B20) of the LED will have a luminous flux corresponding to 80% of the initial flux (L80).

SwitchDIM functionIntegrated switchDIM function allows a direct connection of a pushbutton for dimming and switching. Brief push (< 0.6 s) switches LED Driver ON and OFF. The dim level is saved at power-down and restored at power-up. When the pushbutton is held, LED modules are dimmed. After releasing and pushing the LED modules are dimmed in the opposite direction.In installations with LED Drivers with different dimming levels or opposite dimming directions (e.g. after a system extension), all LED Drivers can besynchronized to 50 % dimming level by a 10 s push. Use of pushbutton with indicator lamp is not permitted.

54 Techno Track - CRI>90 - for electrified track systems

Techno Track is a new modular lighting system that can be secured directly onto the cable track in a simple and, above all, safe manner thanks to the mechanical clamp. Techno Track has a wide range of latest generation LED optics to meet the different lighting needs of shops and retail areas.

Housing: in extruded aluminium with end caps and universal adapter for track mounting.

Optics: with high-performance PMMA lenticular lens. Techno Track includes versions featuring optics 20° asymmetric and 30° bi-asymmetric angles and optics with 30°- 60° - 90° wide beam, making it the best product to fulfil the different lighting requirements of new lighting systems.v

* Data refer to the LED’s nominal luminous flux (Ta= 25 °C) with a tolerance of ± 10% compared to the reported value. The W column indicates the nominal power of the LED module.

55Techno Track - CRI>90 - for electrified track systems

The fastening adapter is also used to make electrical connections and install Techno Track on electrified track systems.

The special technology used to develop the adapter ensures the perfect alignment of the modules thanks to the absence of any lateral protrusions. This allows acting on individual modules in order to guarantee a final “con-tinuous light” effect.

The fixture can be easily and, above all, safely hooked to the track with the clips thanks to the mechanical safety locking system.

Possibility to manually choose the start-up line thanks to a selector switch integrated inside the fixture’s housing.

Possibility to use Techno Track with Fosnova spotlights

The Colour Rendering Index (CRI) indicates how truthfully the artificial light source is able to reproduce the colours of objects. It varies from a range of 0 to 100, where 0 represents the minimum and 100 is the maximum. Daylight is the best source of light from a physiological point of view because it contains the full colour spectrum. Therefore, a lamp with a high colour rendering index is very important to ensure the wellbeing and comfort of the occupants of a room and it is absolutely necessary in rooms where good visibility is required.

The right lighting and fixture play a vital role in facilitating sales. This is the reason why LED fixtures with a CRI>90 are being requested. Therefore, the current trend is geared towards the manufacturing of more flexible fixtures, which also emit an excellent quality of light, while guaranteeing remarkable energy savings and lower maintenance costs.
