“Hunar Se Rojgaar” Scheme of capacity building for service providers ‘Hunar Se Rojgar’ (Year 2013)

1. This report provides an overview of progress of three month guide training programmes, for capacity building of guides under the MOT’s scheme of capacity building for service providers (Hunar Se Rojgar). Madhya Pradesh Ecotourism Development Board is conducting training program for 60 youths of different rural areas.

Forest guide plays an important role in Ecotourism promotion, most of the MPEDB destinations are in forest tribal areas in which people have limited. 3. TRAINING PROGRAM ( BATCH-I )

The 12- Weeks guide training program for first batch was conducted by Madhya Pradesh Ecotourism Development Board, Bhopal from 15th May 2013 to 5th August 2013

Ecotourism destinations:-

• Bhilatdev • Samardha • Kathotiya • Kolar • Payali • Daulatpur (Dewas) • Kukru (Betul) • Patalkot • Rukhad

As from above mentioned 9 destinations 33 youngsters were selected out of which 27 trainees successfully completed three months comprehensive training.(As Annexure 1). The students were provided with guide kits including bag and stationary and in the later phase of training, student were provided with Guide kits including books (Jungle ki kahani guide ki zubani, booklet of birds, Madhya Pradesh Ke Amulya Jeev, Prani Vaibhav, etc ), Uniform(shirt, paint, shoes, socks, belt, cap etc ) water bottle and stipend of Rs 3000/- to each candidate.

The training materials were divided into following modules:

• Modules for class room session

Module 1: Introductory Course Module 2: Functional English Module 3: Soft skills I Module 4: Soft skills II Module 5: Wildlife Interpretation Module 6: Birding Module 7: Interpretation of cultural Heritage Module 8: Assisting Conservation Education

• Modules for Field Visit and practical sessions Module 1: Birding Module 2: Wildlife interpretation Module 3: Interpretation of cultural Heritage

• One week for assignment (home project).

Training Method:

During this training program various subject matter specialist’s imported training. Training approach was to emphasize on trainees participation so that they can comprehend the lessons not only by listening but also by taking part in it, such as:-

• Presentation - to transfer the concept, principle and latest fact. • Demonstration - to teach skills. • Discussion and sharing - to share information and appreciate differences. • Role play - to practice social and interpersonal skills, etc

For practical experience trainees were taken out to the following destinations to give field exposure with the subject matter experts:-

• Satpura Rashtriya Udhyan (Pachmari) :- Nature & Wildlife interpretation • Bhim Baitika :- Cultural and historical interpretation • Bhojpur:- Cultural , historical & Monument interpretation • Tekri:- Sight Seeing • Sanchi:- Cultural , historical & Monument interpretation • Kerwa:- Sight Seeing • Van vihar:- Bird-Watching and Wild Life interpretation • Raisen Fort:- Cultural , historical & Monument interpretation • Mahadevpani:- Rock Painting interpretation • Eco Paryatan Destination Samardha, Kathotiya

In order to develop interest in nature among trainees, various nature, Ecotourism and patriotism based movie sessions were organized.

Honorable Forest Minister Mr. Sartaj Singh gave the certificates to first batch on the convocation day on 4th August 2013.
