Magazine inspiration: Contents page

For my contents page, I have decided to use a double page as the layout. His allows me to add more pictures and diagrams creating a much more pleasurable and good looking page. The top image is a great inspiration as a whole image is used across the two pages still including all the essentials needed for a contents page. To the right, ‘Q Contents’ page is very lively as it includes many images looks fun and again is pleasant to look at. To the left, the image of 5o Cent would be good to recreate and use it as one of the two pages on the contents page. This creates two separate sections and is more clear and neat.

Front Cover

The magazine ‘NME’ is a great inspiration to the genre of music I am pursuing. The text especially in Nme on ‘Noel’ uses great funky text which is really catches the eye and is very unique. Another good use of text is in “The Wombats”. ‘The’ has been slanted which again shows the unique quality of the group as well as the magazine. The NME magazine to the left has a very good image. This image clearly represents the genre of music they are in, therefore a great establishing shot. It is established through the use of costume and the people themselves. The image and costume in ‘Indie’ again is very different and unusual. This gives this very exclusive and rare magazine type which may interest audiences of all type.

Double page spread:

Two out of the three double page spreads are student made. Instead of the typical one page picture and one page text, these three have used the image across the two pages or leaning towards the second page. This would again suit the unique style of my magazine as it folk indie, something very rare to find. The bottom double page spread, even though not looking very neat, uses very uncommon image use, with the image having interactions of arrows to make a very fun looking image. I also like the top image as it covers the two pages and is very rare to see this design in a double page spread. The double page spread also uses other images to the top right which doesn’t look messy and are very well fitted in. The middle double page spread with ‘Lily Allen’ uses very clear and noticeable pull quote with funky text which stands out and pulls the audience into reading the article.
