• NME is a popular music magazine amongst the audience of ages 16-35. NME stands for “New Musical Express”. If the name New Musical Express was published on the front cover, opposed to NME, the magazine immediately becomes for a different audience. New Musical Express makes the magazine sound very sophisticated and would then seem to be aimed at a higher class of people, instead of anyone and everyone. The acronym is the simple and iconic name that the vast majority of the population would know this magazine as. The acronym allows the name to slip off the tongue with ease and has made it a normal talking point in everyday life.

• “Kerrang” is a onomatopoeic word. It simulates the sound that an electric guitar makes when it is strummed. Upon reading, this the reader would instantly relate that to the genre of rock. The exclamation mark at the end of the name only enforces the association of rock music even more, this is done by the exclamation mark giving the impression that the word is either being shouted or just very loud, which are also characteristics of rock music as well. In the logo, there is an effect on it that makes it appear that it has been smashed like glass. This again relates to the loudness of the genre of music.
