1872 – The rifle producing company HUSQVARNA® produced its first sewing machine, NORDSTJERNAN™ (The Northern Star™).

1883 – The FREJA™ sewing machine model was introduced, innovating with the perfect straight stitch. Versions of this model sold for almost 40 years.

1903 – Introduction of the oscillating bobbin - Cb sewing machine, “the sewing machine for families and craftsmen” - became a global leader for more than 50 years.

1934 – A sign of the times, functionality became the focus, contrasting the earlier ornate styles. The first HUSQVARNA® electric sewing machine was presented, the CbN CLASS 12.

1947 – The first free-arm sewing machine was introduced: the HUSQVARNA® ZIG-ZAG™ sewing machine. A free arm offered convenient access. The zig-zag stitch created capability for many new sewing possibilities.

1953 – The CLASS 20 sewing machine was introduced. Exclusive features such as a gearshift transmission, and a jam-proof hook that needed no oil.

1960 – The biggest innovation yet: the HUSQVARNA® 2000 model. A whole new level of convenience with color coded settings and automatic feed for elastic stitches.

1972 – A pioneering development led to the HUSQVARNA® CENTENNIAL™ series, the first lubrication-free sewing machine.

1979 – Model 6680, “the computer sewing machine”, became a reality. The following year, the world’s first “writing” sewing machine was launched - the model 6690, was able to sew letters.

1989 – The HUSQVARNA® 1100 sewing machine offered sewers unlimited creativity with convenient, exclusive features, such as ONE TOUCH DIRECT STITCH SELECTION™ feature, SEWING ADVISOR™ feature, INFODISPLAY™ feature and PROGRAMDISPLAY ™ feature.

1994 – The HUSQVARNA VIKING® ORCHIDEA™ sewing machine was based on the same features as HUSQVARNA® 1100 sewing machine but with an incredible plus: professional-quality machine embroidery!

1998 – A completely new sewing experience commenced: the HUSQVARNA VIKING® DESIGNER I™ sewing machine, with unique, new-to-the-world features including The Sensor Foot Lift, Sensor Foot Pressure, Selective Thread Cutter, Color Touch Screen, built-in Disk Drive and more developed embroidery capabilities.

2004 – The technically astounding new top-of-the-line machine DESIGNER SE™ sewing machine was launched with groundbreaking technology such as Interactive DESIGNER™ Screen, LED lights, exclusive EMbROIDERY ADVISOR™ feature and USb connectivity.

2011 – The DESIGNER DIAMOND deLuxe™ sewing and embroidery machine was introduced continuing the HUSQVARNA VIKING® heritage of innovations, including the amazing feature deLuxe™ Stitch System.

Today – Market leading, innovative sewing and embroidery machines with many first-to-develop inventions, continuously striving to be on the forefront of cutting-edge innovations.

Our most recent innovation, the deLuxe™ Stitch System, is featured on the DESIGNER DIAMOND deLuxe™ sewing and embroidery machine and ensures gorgeous embroidery results even with novelty threads.
