DEVELOPMENTS NEW EQUIPMENT, PROCESSES, & MATERIALS

Parts Cleaning System Almco Inc. Albert Lea, Minn.

Almco Inc.‘s high-performance, highly automated parts cleaning sys- tem, Model PWD-24-48E, features stainless steel components including dual filters and a programmable con- troller unit with video terminal. Exten- sively insulated, the 24-ft Almco aque- ous cleaning system has a 24-in.-wide conveyor belt that links all components of the cleaning process. The wash so- lution is filtered through the cartridge- type filtration units that remove parti- cles down to 10 microns and permits continuous recycling of the fluid.

Magnetic-Drive Centrifugal Pump Ansimag Inc. E/k Grove, 111.

Ansimag Inc. has developed the KM-Series horizontal, magnetic-drive centrifugal pump. The major wetted components consist of Teflon/PFA fluoroplastic for the casing and impel- ler, and silicon carbide for the shaft and bushing to resist a wide range of

corrosive chemicals. The rear casing is made of Teflon/PFA fluoroplastic backed by fiber-composite for 225 psi design pressure. The pump achieves capacities of 100 gpm maximum and discharge heads of 110 ft maximum with a 5-hp motor.

The Hydro-Miser Div. of Applied Thermal Technologies Inc. announces the introduction of 10 new conven- tional type chillers, which cover a ca- pacity range of 2 to 20 tons of refrig- eration. The HMTC Series chiller product line consists of air-cooled, her- metic, and semihermetic compressors. Regular tap or distilled water, as well as mixtures of ethylene or propylene glycol, may be used in the HMTC Series chillers as the coolant medium.

Backwashable Filters AsahlAmerica Ma/den, Mass.

Asahi/America introduces EnTek filters, which feature a patented back- washing system that allows for peri- odic cleaning in 10 minutes. The col- lected waste is discharged directly to treatment, with no operator or environ- mental exposure. The filtration sleeves are permanent, eliminating disposal costs, and are available in a range of

micron ratings and fabrics. There are over 40 models including manual and fully automated systems.
