Iron filings (or Iron sand)
Small pieces of iron used to show the
direction of a magnetic field.

Paper clip (Noun)
A piece of bent wire used to hold paper
together.
“Magnets easily attract paper clips because
they are usually made of metal.”
Attract (Verb)
When a magnet pulls an object (usually made
of metal) towards it.

Repel (Verb)
When a magnet pushes an object away from it.
“Putting the N pole of one magnet near the N
pole of another magnet will repel it.”
Magnetic field (Adjective+Noun)
The area around a magnet that can attract or
repel objects.

Magnetic Domain (Adjective+Noun)
A magnetic domain is region in which the magnetic fields
of atoms are grouped together and aligned.

The effect that causes magnets to attract or
repel objects.
