What is MAG+s?

MAG+S is a spiritual, cultural, pastoral, social and missionary experience for young people based on Ignatian Spirituality. It is a programme that takes a person right back into the true essence of what it means to be a pilgrim – Where Christ is the guide, Humanity is the subject of God’s love, and the World is but a place for following Christ. It will take a person deep into one’s heart, where much self-discovery and discovery of God will take place.

This spirituality is one that Saint Ignatius (who was himself a pilgrim) discovered, and made known to the world. He believed that any endeavour to grow in greater love for God required known to the world. He believed that any endeavour to grow in greater love for God required a journey deeper into one’s heart, and that the road would demand the following from a pilgrim -Openess, courage, authenticity and a tenacious desire to seek God.

The invitation to search deeper within comes by means of a journey into the world. Such an undertaking would intrigue and compel a pilgrim to explore new frontiers beyond the comforts of what is already predictable and known to him/her. To accept such an invitation is to accept the challenge to redefine what is already known, and revaluate one's life in the light of new discoveries and the love of God.of new discoveries and the love of God.

On this journey of MAG+S, such frontiers could be found in countless forms, and we are always challenged to seek the "more" in a given situation or circumstance. From the smallest of things like a conversation with a stranger, to larger experiences built upon the exposure to new cultures and activities, the pilgrim is always led to ask "What is God saying to me? What is God iniviting me to do?". In so doing, the Christian spirit is brought to fullness – To live as Christ would, to Love as Christ would. To surrender to the loving will of the Father, and allow his graces to take over.his graces to take over.

At MAG+S, the experiences proposed will facilitate a deeper encounter of God and an uncanny experience of Christian fellowship with other young believers. In this interaction with God and Man, may a pilgrim then come to acknowledge, surrender and embrace God's love in order to transform!

PART 1: The Journey to Brazil (Salvador, Bahia) – 10 July to 11JulyFlight by SQ (Singapore – Barcelona – Sao Paolo) Domestic Flight (Sao Paolo – Salvador, Bahia)

PART 2: MAG+S Festival and Conferences (Salvador, Bahia) – 12 July to 14 JulyThis segment of MAG+S is a 3-Day free and easy festival with various programmes that pilgrims may choose to attend at will. Pilgrims will get to mingle with other like-minded youth from other countries, and will experience 3 days of fun being together as the youth from other countries, and will experience 3 days of fun being together as the entire MAG+S WYD contingent. At the last MAG+S WYD, this totalled to over 3000 pilgrims.

PART 3: MAG+S Experience (locations in and around Brazil) – 15 July to 21 JulyThis segment is really the “main course” of MAG+S, and will follow a structure based on Ignatian spirituality in which there are five essential moments that mark the course of each day.

The 5 CORE ELEMENTS of MAG+S are:1. Morning prayer2. Liturgy - Mass3.3. Activity4. MAG+S Circle5. Examen

Pilgrims will also pick from a list of categories for their actiities. Based on these categories, they will be split into groups of 25 (mixed-nationalities), led by an SD and several facilitators.

The Singapore MAG+S Contingent will be back together, and will be rooming together for the rest of the WYD duration.
