CONSTITUTION OF THE BOARD & ITS OBJECTIVES
• Maharashtra State Khadi & Village Industries Board was established in 1962 under Section 19 of the Bombay Khadi & Village Industries Act, 1960.
• To provide financial assistance and technical guidance for Khadi & Village Industries under the purview of the Board
• To make arrangements for providing raw materials to the Co-operative Societies/Institutions/Individual artisans and entrepreneurs and for sale of their finished products, to assist in organization of Co-operative Societies of artisans to solve the problems faced by them.
• To ensure proper assistance to the artisans by bringing about co-ordination among various government and semi-government bodies connected with the day-to-day working of these Institutions.
• To provide training to the traditional artisans in the use of modern tools & equipments to increase their production capacity & earnings.
• To provide necessary training facilities for Institutions/Societies/Industries involving technical know-how and to provide training to educated youth in management of these Institutions/Societies.
• To undertake research and development work in the field of Khadi & Village Industries.
• To propagates the usefulness of village industries through various Publicity Media such as exhibitions, seminars, radio & television.
• To encourage development of new village industries in rural areas and ensure their growth so as to stop the influx of rural entrepreneurs to Urban Area.
• To provide employment opportunities to maximum persons at minimum economic investment and ensure environmental balance.

ARTISAN’S EMPLOYMENT GUARANTEE SCHEME FOR RURAL ARTISANS
311 Block Level Societies, More than 7 lakh Membersin over 31000 villages, More than 4 lakhs Rural Artisans have been disbursed as financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 190 Crores and over 5 lakhs of employment generation.

CONSORTIUM BANK FINANCE SCHEME• More than 8000 beneficiaries in about 8000 villages are benefited
under this scheme.• Rs 30 Crores have been disbursed as financial assistance and
more than 18000 employment generation.
SPECIAL COMPONENT PLAN• More than 2 lakhs units have been financed since inception.• More than 3 lakhs employment generation.• Subsidy proposals worth Rs 70 lakhs sent for sanction and more
than 125 crores disbursed as financial assistance.

(PMEGP)
• More than 10000 working units under Manufacturing & Service Indusrties.
• More than 1 lakh employment generation

A) Directorate of Beekeeping, Mahabaleshwar• Activities such as Research, Training, distribution of Bee Boxes and Honey production are undertaken.• 2000 Beekeepers are engaged in around 10000 acres for these activities.• Total 100000 kgs of Honey produced which is worth Rs 4 crores under the Brand “Madhuban”
B) Carpentry & Blacksmith Workshop, Gokul Shirgaon, Kolhapur.• Bee Boxes are manufactured by adopting scientific method.• Furniture manufacturing.• Annual turnover to the tune of Rs 25 lakhs• Around 10-12 artisans are provided with an employment.
C) Handmade Paper Institute, Pune• Established in 1940• Activities like Research, training & production are undertaken.• Since 1992 to 2016, around 1858 beneficiaries are imparted training.• Research activities are undertaken in the production of various types of Handmade paper

1) Maharashtra State Cluster Development Scheme• 25 clusters of Rural Entrepreneurs in 20 districts.• Geographical & Training resources are taken in consideration.• 9000 artisans & entrepreneurs are benefited. Over Rs. 1000 crores turnover is
proposed.
2) Chaanda-Baanda Project ( Based on availability of local resources )• 2000 beneficiaries expected with annual production of around Rs 50000 from Neera
Industry.• Impartment of training under Beekeeping to 2500 beneficiaries.
Estimated annual production of Rs 25000/- to Rs. 60000/-• Khadi cloth production from cotton staples. Around 1000 & above
employment generation & annual production of Rs. 90000/- is estimated.

A) Solar Charkha Project, Amaravati(Model Project)
• Inclusion of 100% Women entrepreneurs of Scheduled Castes & Below Poverty Line category.
• 160 Solar Charkhas are active in 16 villages.• 2000 kgs of khadi yarn per month is
produced.• Production of 10000 metres khadi fabric.B) Various products manufactured from Khadi
fabric• Readymade Garments for ladies & gents,
handkerchiefs, etc.• E-marketing system adopted for the sale of
these products.• Extended co-operation from reknown dress
designers.

• Proposed to prepare 1000 beneficiaries in Forest & Tribal areas in Vidarbha region.

Mahakhadi Brand• Registration of Mahakhadi brand & unveiling• Covered 5 lakhs rural entrepreneurs & artisans.• This brand develops self respect to millions of artisans.• Fiscal stability to traditional skills/corporate gift, a souvenir.• Reliability of Khadi & Village Industries Sector joined modern themes.• A rightful platform of marketing.• A separate entity given to entrepreneurs in KVI sector.• Helpful to rural sector and also for exports of V.I. products. Planned path oriented programmes.
