INTRODUCTIONy TVS Electronics designs, manufactures and

distributes IT products, dot matrix printers, point of sale terminals, printer supplies , keyboards , mouse, uninterruptible power supplies, and set top boxes. TVSElectronics was established in 1986. TVS Electronics hasa strong market presence in India

y  At the R&D section the different printer types were coded

to perform their operation and testing were carried on

ICS USED IN TRUMP RP45 POS

y LB1847

The LB1847 is a driver IC for stepping motors with PWM current control (fixed OFF time). A specialfeature of this IC is that VREF voltage is constant whilethe current can be set in 15 steps, allowing drive of  motors ranging from 1-2 phase exciter. The current

decay pattern can also be selected (SLOW DECAY,FAST DECAY, MIX DECAY) to increase the decay of regenerative current at chopping OFF, there by  improving response characteristics.

Page 16: Main in Plant Training

At present DRV8821 ICs are used:y Two independent stepper motor driver circuits include

four H-bridge drivers and microstepping-capableindexer logic. Each of the motor driver blocks employ N-channel power MOSFETs configured as an H-bridge

to drive the motor windings.

y A simple step/direction interface allows easy interfacing to controller circuits. Pins allowconfiguration of the motor in full-step, half-step,quarter-step, or eighth step modes, and the selection

of slow or mixed decay modes.y Internal shutdown functions are provided for over

current protection, short circuit protection, under voltage lockout and over temperature.

TRUMP RP-45 POSy

Task 1- I Analyzed the different modes of the printerusing a digital CRO to capture the current and voltage waves in a floppy and to print the maintenance mode

y The different modes set were

1. Draft

2. Roman

3. HS Draft

y The different CPI(characters per inch)

1. 12

2. 15

3. 17

4. 20

TRUMP RP-45 POS Cont.

y Task 2- To check if the printer gave the required output voltage for the normal input range 180v-220v (by

connecting to domestic switch board AC supply) andthen for extremes such as 160v, 240v and 250v and300 bills are printed if it does not get printedsuccessfully then there is some grounding problem which is rectified and tested again

Dot Matrix Printers:

y  A dot matrix printer or impact matrix printer is a typeof computer printer with a print head that runs back andforth, or in an up and down motion, on the page and printsby impact, striking an ink-soaked cloth ribbon against the

paper, much like the print mechanism on a typewriter.y 2 types

y 9 wire- one character is printed using 9 pins

y 24 wire- one character is printed using 24 pins so has better

quality y 2 types of motors used:

Carriage motor: used for movement from left to right

Paper feed motor: pull the paper upward to move to the next line

INTRODUCTION

y Doordarshan is an Indian public service broadcaster,a division of Prasar Bharati. It is one of the largestbroadcasting organizations in India in terms of the

infrastructure of studios and transmitters. Recently, ithas also started Digital Terrestrial Transmitters. OnSeptember 15, 2009, Doordarshan celebrated its 50thanniversary . The DD provides television, radio, onlineand mobile services throughout metropolitan andregional India, as well as overseas through the IndianNetwork and Radio India

Various sections in DD Kendra

y The studio: It has 4 Studiosy Studio 1: Huge used for recording of big events such as music

performance

y Studio 2: Used for regional transmission of news for Podhigai

and for various announcements

y Studio 3&4: used for small recording such as children shows

5 components of  studio:

Camera and lighting, camera control unit, video

switcher at production control room , Audio ControlUnit and master switching room

Types of Modulationy Positive modulation

The increase in picture brightness causes increase in the amplitude of

the modulation envelope

y  N egative modulationThe increase in picture brightness causes reduction in carrieramplitude i.e. the carrier amplitude will be maximum corresponding tosync tip and minimum corresponding to peak white

Why negative modulationy Pictures contain more information towards white than

black and hence the average power is lower resulting inenergy saving. (Bright picture points correspond to a low

carrier amplitude and sync pulse to maximum carrieramplitude).

y Impulse noise peaks appear only in black region in negativemodulation. This black noise is less objectionablecompared to noise in white picture region.

y Best linearity can be maintained for picture region and any non-linearity affects only sync which can be correctedeasily .

TV Transmittersy High Power TV Transmitters

y both the signals (video and audio) modulate the carrier waves whose frequencies and types of modulations are

as per established standards. These modulated carriersare further amplified and then diplexed for transmissionon the same line and antenna.

y Low Power TV Transmittersy both the signals (video and audio) are modulated

separately but amplified jointly using common visionand aural amplifier.

Source and channel codingy Source coder removes non-essential and redundant

parts of the picture signal and performs the bit-ratereduction process.

y Digital compression techniques enable the original datato be compressed so that it can readily be transmittedover the existing transmission path.

y Digital compression techniques allow many different

programmes to be simultaneously transmitted over asingle channel.

y Channel encoder optimises the data for the particularmodulation system and transmission channel.

Digital Earth Station Earth Station is a uplink center from which the

signals are fed to Satellite for distribution in aspecified area covered by the Satellite.

The signal is up-linked from the earth station andreceived by many down link centers in TV broadcasting.

It is a very important part of satellitecommunication system for broadcasting of signals.

3D TVy The depth can be seen as there is a 7cm difference between

the 2 eye balls so 2 cameras which are placed at a distanceof 7cm are used to capture left and right signal

y 3 Technique to reach the eye

y By using glasses with different colors such as blue and

red for left and right eye respectively .

color issue.

y Polarization Glass- Vertical polarized glass to the righteye and horizontally polarized glass to the left eye. Nocolor issue

y Shutter Method- . It has a Transmitter at TV a wifi or

Bluetooth and first transmits signal only for the lefteye and the right eye shutter is closes and then thenext frame to the TV is a right eyed signal so left eyeshutter is closed and right eye views it
