As the largest renewable energy company in West Africa, Engineers at Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited are breaking new
grounds in Nigeria’s power sector. Repairs were recently carried out on 2G5, A generating unit of 90.5 MW located at the
Jebba Hydro Power Plant.
They carefully removed the unit top cover, exciter shaft and loosened the rotor rim; each step executed with the dexterity of
specialists until the final stages of coupling and testing the welded portions for porosity. They worked tirelessly with a well-
planned schedule and synergy required from a multifaceted and skilled workforce.
The unit is tied back to the grid, bolstering the supply of electricity to Nigeria homes and businesses. Mainstream’s well-
articulated Capacity Recovery Plan is being strategically achieved in order to ensure that Nigeria’s energy needs are
increasingly met.
