AUTUMN
2015
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a fabulous start to the New Year.
Thank you to all the volunteers who attended the Volunteer/Staff Christmas get together at Maitland
Park Bowling Club, from the feedback received, everyone seemed to really enjoy the casual Barefoot
Bowls event.
Most of you will be aware that we had a misfortunate incident in our Meals on Wheels room on
Friday 6th February. A faulty refrigerator thermostat resulted in a fire, which was quickly distinguished
thanks to our local fireman. We wish to thank everyone who helped on the day, due to the assistance
of many volunteers, our meals service was able to continue to operate with very little disruption. We
thank all the volunteers for their patience and understanding, who have had to contend with the
current working circumstances due to the room being unavailable.
We are in the process of organising our biggest fundraiser of the year, “OUR TRIVIA NIGHT”, details are
enclosed. We are hoping to see many staff and volunteer faces on the night. Let’s make it our biggest
and best yet. Tickets are only $10 pp or $100 for a table. It’s a great opportunity to socialise with fellow
staff and volunteers, whilst having lots of fun. We have some great raffle prizes for the tombola raffle,
as well as many other great prizes to be won on the night.
Happy reading.

Maitland Community Care Service workers evacuated
Fire crews responded to a refrigerator blaze at the Maitland Community Care Services building today.
Crews from Maitland and Telarah were sent out to the premises at John Street, Telarah about 12.40pm.
According to Maitland station officer Stephen White the fire was caused by a fault in the refrigerator's
thermostat.
Maitland Community Care Service workers safely evacuated the building.
A CO2 extinguisher was used to put out the fire and the building suffered only minor damage.
Fire crews completed minor salvage work and removed the refrigerator unit.
An electrician was called to investigate the site before it was declared safe for employees to return to work

AUTUMN 2015 FUNNIES
What happens to a frog's
car when it breaks down?
- gets toad away
A husband, who is not the most outgoing guy, relents to his wife's months of nagging to take her out dancing.
During the evening one guy on the dance floor is giving it large - break dancing, moon walking, back flips, the
works.
Seeing this performance, the wife turns to her husband and says, "See that guy? Twenty-five years ago he
proposed to me and I turned him down."
Her husband replies, "Looks like he's still celebrating!!!"
Sam walks into his boss’s office. “Sir, I’ll be straight with you, I know the economy isn’t great, but I have
over three companies after me, and I would like to respectfully ask for a raise.” After a few minutes
of haggling the boss finally agrees to a 5% raise, and Sam happily gets up to leave.
“By the way”, asks the boss as Sam is getting up, “which three companies are after you?” “The electric
company, water company, and phone company”, Sam replied.
