About KBWH

Khaled Bin al Walid al Horj College was founded in 1920 as an

elementary school and a vocational school for accounting and

business. Then, in 1948, Kindergarten was founded and the school

became one of the nominated primary schools by 1952. Two middle

schools started in 1959: The School for Girls as the English

section and the Al- Horj College for Boys as the French section

In 2001, the three schools were merged in one K-12 co-ed school with

English and French sections under the name of Makassed Khaled Bin

al Walid al Horj College - KBWH. In 2107, newly enrolled students in

the English sections started to receive intensive French to prepare them

as trilingual learners.

Accreditation

To meet high standards of performance in education, the school

started the accreditation process with AdvancED and was granted a

five-year accreditation first in 2010 and then in 2015 . Khaled Bin al

Walid al Horj College is also certified by the French Cultural Institute

in Beirut to prepare students in the French section for the DELF and

DALF exams. In 2017, KBWH was accredited as an international

school by the British Council and received the International School

Award.

Programs offered at KBWH:

1- Lebanese program

Lebanese students follow the National Curriculum and are prepared for

the official exams and university entrance exams, focusing on 21st

century skills. Students who need additional assistance are provided

with a remedial program to support them throughout their educational

experiences and ensure that their needs are met through differentiated

learning activities by qualified teachers during and after school day.

2- Foreign program

The school offers the Foreign Program for non-Lebanese students and

those who have a foreign passport. It is based on an accommodated

curriculum and pull-out sessions in certain content areas using level-

appropriate materials and activities. The program was licensed by the

Lebanese government by the Decree 12/5195

3- Learning Difficulties Program

Makassed Learning Difficulties Center (MLDC) is for students with

learning difficulties to provide them with specific support and services

based on their points of strength, interests, and needs.
