Once you have the hang of making the paints, why not collect ingredients for other colours, such as blue or red? Set out your paint, plastic pots and scented ingredients. Pour a small amount of each paint colour into individual pots. Next comes the fun part! To make scented purple paint: Roughly chop the leaves of your lavender cuttings, then tip the leaves and flower buds into your paint and stir to release the fragrance. To make scented green paint: Roughly chop the leaves of your mint, then tip the leaves into your paint and stir to release the fragrance. To make scented yellow paint: With help from an adult, zest your lemon and then tip the zest pieces into your paint and stir. What you need Water-based paint (we use purple, green, yellow and orange) Plastic pots for mixing paint (preferably with a lid so the paint can be stored for multiple use) Lavender cuttings Mint leaves 1 lemon (for zest) 1 orange (for zest) Spoon or wooden stick for stirring To make scented orange paint: Using the same method as yellow paint, zest your orange and then tip the zest pieces into your paint and stir. You can remove the ingredients from the paint once they have had time to fragrance, or for extra scent leave the ingredients in your paint! Once finished, you can store the paint for a few days.
