Establishing Professional Practice

Making a Blog

To start off I begin to type the Word press.com address in and then get started button.

I then typed in my details into the fields provided.

Lauren Sawyer Monday 8th October 2012 I then had to type my email address into so I could verify my account.

I clicked on the second option as it was the free one.

After verifying my account I had to change the details to what suited me and what I felt comfortable in publishing, e.g. making the title different .

Lauren Sawyer Monday 8th October 2012 We then opened Dashboard (found under my name in the top corner) and uploaded posts:

As this was just for examples and demonstrations we opened a site called “the hairy lipsum” to find a piece of text to upload.

Posts; Add New

I then copied and pasted the text with a title, so it became a post on my blog, just to see how it looked.

After that we changed our header to something we liked.

I could of either changed my header into one of the default pictures provided, but instead I uploaded one of my own images.

To change the header on our blog we went to dashboard - appearance - header

I changed that here

Lauren Sawyer Monday 8th October 2012 This was my blog after the edited header. I changed I to my photo shopped “blurred” image.

After editing the header I then added pages, this was for the work I have already created; Establishing Professional Practice.

To create I went to the pages tab at the side of the screen then add new.

To create a page inside another tab e.g. week 1 to 5 will be under EPP (establishing professional Practice) we changed the parent to EPP tab

This is what the tabs look like on the homepage of my blog.

Lauren Sawyer Monday 8th October 2012 The next step was to add a post inside my page

I wanted to put a link to my Issuu page and the information from week 1 onto my page.

I did this by getting a JPEG of the image I wanted to put on my page I did this by using the upload and insert tab

Then you have to click on the image and add hyper link, this has to have the link of where you want to send the user once they’ve clicked on it. Make sure you click on the tool that opens another tab.

Repeat the process for all the work you want to add.

Media; first tab
