THE FIVE CONDITIONS OF COLLECTIVE IMPACT SUCCESS
Collective impact is more rigorous and specific than collaboration among organizations.
There are five conditions that, together, lead to meaningful results from collective impact:
1.Common Agenda: All participants share a vision that includes a common understanding of the problem and a joint approach to solving the problem through agreed-upon actions.
2.Shared Measurement: All participants agree on the ways success will be measured and reported, with a short list of common indicators identified and used for learning and improvement.

3.Mutually Reinforcing Activities: coordinate a set of differentiated activities through a mutually reinforcing plan of action.
4.Continuous Communication: structured open communication to build trust, assure mutual objectives, and create common motivation.

5.Backbone Support: provides ongoing support by guiding the initiative’s vision and strategy, supporting aligned activities, establishing shared measurement practices, building public will, advancing policy, and mobilizing resources.

The LIVESTRONG Foundation’s Community Impact Project (CIP) replicates programs that have demonstrated success in supporting people affected by cancer within one city, state or region of the United States. Since its inception, the CIP has invested more than $4 million to replicate twelve programs in more than 600 communities, serving tens of thousands of survivors in the process. Using replicable programs with proven success has allowed the LIVESTRONG Foundation to eliminate the cost of developing new programs and provide more immediate implementation of programs to help cancer survivors, their families and health care professionals
PDG Assem Abdel Razek
Phase 1Organizations apply to have their programs replicated across the United States through the Community Impact Project and after a thorough review, the Foundation chooses 3 to 4 programs for national expansion that we believe address an unmet need within the cancer community. These projects are funded through the E. Lee Walker Award which supports innovative programs that help cancer survivors.
PDG Assem Abdel Razek
Phase 2Next, hospitals, cancer centers, universities and community-based organizations apply to bring one or more of the selected Programs to their respective communities. Applications are vetted and, depending on their individual location, community served and demonstrated need for the Program(s), are then approved for the third phase of the CIP. Selected organizations then are slated to receive training and funds to implement each Program.
PDG Assem Abdel Razek
Phase 3The third phase of the CIP involves an interactive voting campaign where the LIVESTRONG community votes to determine where funding goes. Each of the selected organizations appeals for support to the general public to bring their respective Programs to their communities. Since 2010 nearly one thousand organizations have participated in the voting process for the CIP, garnering a total of more than one million votes online from around the country.

ASSESS THE COMMUNITY’S NEEDS
Establishing an RCC begins with using your Rotary club’s resources efficiently to determine which projects will have the greatest impact on the neediest part of the community.
A community needs assessment is essential to planning the RCC’s course of action and can save valuable time, money, and resources.
PDG Assem Abdel Razek
ROTARY COMMUNITY CORPS
A Rotary Community Corps is a group of non-Rotarians who share our commitment to service.
RCC members plan and carry out projects in their communities and support local Rotary club projects
PDG Assem Abdel Razek
ROTARY COMMUNITY CORPS
How do I sponsor an RCC?
By sponsoring an RCC you are giving a larger segment of your community the opportunity to proactively address issues where they live.
Community members with a vested interest in a project are more likely to make sure that the project lives on.
PDG Assem Abdel Razek
ROTARY COMMUNITY CORPS
You can form an RCC anywhere non-Rotarians are interested in working with Rotary.
Assess your community needs. Find out where an RCC could have the biggest impact
and what kinds of projects would be most effective. Promote the RCC to your club. Recruit RCC members. Start with a core group of members. Community organizations and nongovernmental agencies
are a good place to recruit.
PDG Assem Abdel Razek
ROTARY COMMUNITY CORPS A Rotary Community Corps
(RCC) is a team of non Rotarian men and women who are committed to their community’s long-term development and self sufficiency.
An RCC is sponsored by a Rotary club and, like Rotaract and Interact clubs, is one of Rotary’s partners in service. The main principle of the program is to enable RCC members to personally address and solve problems in the area where they work or live.
