DESCRIPTION

Presentation given at the first national learning event for a Personalised response to Winterbourne View project. The learning events share examples of good person-centred care (based on Making it Real) for people with very complex needs and behaviour that challenges. Local authorities and providers are invited to discuss the model to support their own commissioning and planning practice. Sue Graham, Commissioning Development Manager for Ealing Local Authority gives a presentation on partnership work done with 'exemplar' areas Leeds City Council, Milton Keynes Council, MacIntyre -national charity provider for children and adults with learning disabilities in Milton Keynes and Real Life Options.

The not so positive

• Lead in times (18 months) • Complexities of individual circumstances leading to “timescales

slippage” • Upfront investment required for person centred transitions and

staff recruitment and induction  • Availability of suitable housing • Change in key leadership figures • Retention of staff team as timescales stall.
