RECESSIVE MUTATIONS = lower caseEX: mahogany eyes = mah
normal "wild type" version of the gene = same abbreviation as mutant with a "+" superscriptFor example, Sp+ and mah+.
Sometimes, when the meaning is obvious, "+" by itself is usedEX: heterozygote genotypes: +/Sp and +/mah.
