History:Concern America was founded in Stockton, CA in 1972 and shares roots with another organization, Concern, located in Ireland. The founders were Fr. Michael Doheny, Sean O’Farrell, Paul Fairbrook, & Raymond Kennedy.

Concern America’s Goal:

“To provide training, technical assistance and/or material support to people in lesser-developed countries who require assistance as a result of natural disaster, civil disruption, forced migration, discrimination or historically-rooted poverty. How it Works:

You host a meal, inviting friends using the printed invitations provided by Concern

America. The invitation asks each invited guest

to donate what he/she might spend taking

What We Provide You:• A wooden bowl and spoon (made by health promoters in a Concern America project) to set

at an empty place at your table, representing those in our world in material need• A placemat for each guest, with a photo and information about the country where the

person represented by the empty place lives• A collection basket• Printed invitations for you to send to your guests• Information about the work of Concern America
