Graphing Using a T-chart
First Draw a T-chart
A t-chart is used to keep the work
organized.
Y = 3X + 7X Equation goes here

Choose 3 x-values
You can pick any x-values that you want. There is not a wrong answer for this part. If your x-values are large, they will take more room to graph.
It is good to pick at least one negative number a positive number and zero.
Let X = -2, 0, 2
3(0) + 7
3(2) + 7
3(-2) + 7Y = 3X + 7
-2 0 2
X
Place each x-value into the equation
3(0) + 7 = 7 3(2) + 7 = 13
3(-2) + 7 = 1Y = 3X + 7
-2 0 2
X
Compute the y-values
3(0) + 7 = 7 3(2) + 7 = 13
3(-2) + 7 = 1Y = 3X + 7
-2 0 2
X
Match the x-value and the y-values
X - values
Y - values
Locate the Ordered Pairs
( -2 , 1 )
( 0 , 7 )
( 2 , 13 )
Plot these points on
your graph.
Graph on Coordinate Grid
(-2,1)
(0,7)
(2,13)
Notice our graph only goes to 10 ,but our
largest value is 13 on the y-axis.
Another solution would have been to
count by two’s on the graph.
Graph on Coordinate Grid
(-2,1)
(0,7)
(2,13)
Since my graph was not long enough, I chose to improvise and made my
point extend off the grid.
