“For any system to work, the sub-systems must be made sub-optimal.” I’m paraphrasing Fred Kofman here, but it's true. For there to be wealthy and wealth generation, there must be the poor and poverty. The poor and underprivileged are generally down with that historically if three conditions are met: !1. All people are treated with dignity and respect. 2. There is an openness in the system that allows for meritocracy and movement between classes. 3. There's a working system of justice that protects all people equally (justice is blind.) !When any one is missing, you have a disgruntled population. When two are missing, you have unrest. When all three are missing, you have revolt. We are quickly heading to the absence of all three.

Solution quandary… how can we evolve and not simply revolve?

The Gift Economy, Copiosis, The Zeitgeist Movement along with the Survivalists, Simplification Movement, 99% Rally, Back to the Land, Urban Farming, Burning Man, Cryptocurrencies, Maker Culture all speak to attempts at evolution strategies. !It’s safe to say that one movement alone won’t provide a solution, but taken together we can learn from their mistakes and thrive on their strengths. Without being a “Chicken Little” and a typical elder by saying the world is coming to and end, it’s safe to say that the challenges ahead are real and at some point in the not too distant future we will reach a tipping point and will desperately need amazing leaders and elders. !Will you be that leader?
