WELCOME ADDRESS
It’s our great pleasure to welcome delegates and speakers to join 31st Annual Scientific Congress of Malaysian Oncological Society 2019 at the beautiful city of Ipoh from 31st October to 3rd November 2019. Ipoh is the capital city of Perak state and famous for its magnificent colonial architecture, concubine lane, the lost world of Tambun, the old town white coffee, crowded little India and trade-mark delicacy “nasi ganja”. Lonely planet voted Ipoh city as one of the 10 preferred destinations in Asia.
Malaysian Oncological Society chosen Ipoh to host 31st ASCOMOS with a theme of “real world practice of oncology”. The theme is coined to focus on the actual practice in community oncology centers rather than at highly selected academic institutions in restricted research environment. In randomized clinical trials, there are enormous restrictions in the recruitment of patients based on super-selective inclusion and exclusion criteria. However, in routine practice we see patient with wide variety of clinical situations that may not match with patient care followed in research without any restriction of cost, multiple investigations, hospital visits and quality assurance. In the real world scenario, especially in developing countries, we face numerous challenges while managing complicated cancer patients.
Many eminent speakers from within and outside Malaysia are going to deliberate on latest advances in oncology of common interest. Therefore, we would like to encourage our participants to present their research findings, clinical data, unique case reports and interesting ideas in this event. The organizers have arranged parallel scientific sessions related to community practice of oncology. Four pre-congress workshops have been devoted to trainees, allied oncology professionals and practicing oncologists. Our committee members have arranged sightseeing booth to explore beauty in the state of Perak during your stay in Ipoh.
We hope this conference would facilitate oncologists to share their knowledge with peers, create networking and make this event a grant success.
Hope to see you in Ipoh.
