The Zhone MALC 100 provides next-generation BLC features in a com-

pact format that makes it easy and cost-effective to extend the range of

triple play service deployments.

Service providers are challenged by the need to deliver high-bandwidth,

IP-enabled services throughout their territories. The compact MALC 100

solves the challenge when deployed close to subscribers, reducing loop-

lengths for increased bandwidth. An optional OSP enclosure enables

pole-mount, pedestal or underground deployment for even greater

range and flexibility.

The MALC 100 combines industry-leading functionality with ease of

deployment for a robust and complete access solution.

Universal Broadband: MALC 100 enables delivery of ample bandwidth

to your full service territory.

Advanced Voice Capabilities: MALC 100 delivers standard lifeline POTS

to subscribers, then encodes voice traffic as carrier-class VoIP for trans-

port over a resilient Gigabit Ethernet network. Integrated Emergency

Stand-Alone (ESA) capabilities allow the MALC 100 to continue to pro-

vide local voice service in the event of a network disruption.

Triple Play Services: MALC 100 includes high-performance packet

processing with advanced IP capabilities to deliver secure, reliable,

and efficient voice, data, and video services. Now service providers

can offer compelling bundles of multi-line voice, high-speed Internet

access, and multi-set IP video (including HDTV) over their existing

copper infrastructure.

Optical or Copper Transport: MALC 100 uses dual Gigabit Ethernet

uplinks, supporting both copper and fiber, to provide simple cost-effec-

tive transport. The dual Gig-E ports allow daisy-chained linear or ring

deployments, and on rings the MALC 100 provides standards-based RPR

support to ensure <50msec restoration in the event of a ring fault.

Small Package, Big Features

The MALC 100 OSP (Outside Plant) wraps the MALC 100 in a tough,

compact, environmentally-sealed enclosure, providing the ultimate in

deployment flexibility. The MALC 100 OSP is readily mounted to the

side of existing cabinets or to utility poles, eliminating the need for

costly pads, right-of-ways, and new cabinets in order to provide services

to lower density or remote locations.

The MALC 100 extends the benefits of next-generation BLCs through-

out the service territory, ensuring universal coverage of advanced

services. The MALC 100 works seamlessly with Zhone's residential

gateways and high-density BLCs, providing a complete Access solu-

tion from the Central Office to the Remote Control.

The MALC 100 also interoperates with leading VoIP, IP Video, CPE,

and transport solutions, ensuring rapid integration and deployment.

A Key Element of Zhone’sComplete Access Solution

The easy-to-use Zhone Management System (ZMS) provides OSMINE-

certified management and provisioning across the access network, from

CPE to the Central Office. The MALC 100 is fully remote managed,

allowing carriers to reduce service turn-up intervals, reduce truck rolls,

and ultimately, improve customer service.
