I want to be Day & Taco Lunch—Friday 27th February Well done to all students on the effort you put into dressing up last Friday for “I Want to Be Day” - it was great to hear all about your dreams and aspirations for the future. Thanks to the parents who helped their children prepare for the day at school. Labour Day—Public Holiday There will be no school for students on Monday 9th March as this is the La-bour Day Public Holiday. Nexus Arts—@ Tyrrell College Next Tuesday 10th March students will attend their first Nexus Arts Council performance at Tyrrell College. Students should be wearing their full WGS uniform (boys navy logo T-shirt and plain navy shorts, Girls in navy and white check dresses if possible).
Buddies Reading It’s been great to have Jan Adcock join us on past weeks for the Buddies Reading Program. Now that the swimming program is almost fully concluded we hope to settle into routine with all our reading volun-teers. Term 1 Parent Teacher Interviews Due to the busy nature of this term and our busy parent group who have work and outside school commitments, parents are invited to schedule a time
for an interview with their child’s classroom teacher after school hours, during weeks 8 and 9 (March 16th-26th) of this term. Please call the school or put a request in your child’s diary for a time that suits. Teachers will confirm these dates/times with parents.

Senior Class—Melissa Mitchell English—Students have almost completed their first full draft of their Persuasive Writing piece “Books are Better Than Television”. We created a giant hamburger poster which illustrates the layers of a Persuasive Piece of writing. We have been learning about suffixes such as ‘ed’, ‘ing’ and ‘s’ and how to apply them to words with different vowel/consonant endings. Plural and singular has also been a focus as we have learned about words like ‘fish’ that doesn’t change and ‘goose’ that changes to ‘geese’. The English language is certainly a complex thing! Oral Language—News. Next weeks news top-ic for all in the senior room is ‘Favourite Animal Facts’. Students should be prepared to speak about their chosen animal (not pet) and include answers to Who? What? When? Where? Why? And How? Maths—We have finished off learning about bar graphs and all that we need to know about put-ting one together so that the information is accu-rate and easy to read. Homework— Spelling Rules Unit 4 - Tuesday 10th March Maths Mate Sheet 5 - Tuesday 10th March
Junior Class—Natalie Mitchell
English: This week we have been learning
about the letters ‘a’ and ‘c’. We have
learnt what they look like, what they
sound like, what words start with these
letters and lastly how to write them. These
activities have been very useful in intro-
ducing the letters to the Preps and con-
solidating them with the Grade 1 & 2 stu-
dents.
Maths: Continuing on with our unit on
‘Shape’ we have had great fun this week
revising our 2D shapes and learning
about 3D shapes. Students enjoyed mak-
ing a variety of large 3D shapes from
rolled tubes of newspaper with the senior
room students.
Values: Our whole school value this week
is ‘Flexibility’. Students have spent time
looking at what being flexible means and
ways in which we can show it. Things such
as playing a game a different way or try-
