What’s involved in planning the new season’s collections? Timescales?Our starting point is always collating trend information; this can be from a variety of sources such as magazines, film, music, and trend companies like WGSN & Nellie Rodie. Once we have compiled our trends we will also look at last years best sellers to make sure we have a good understanding of what works for us. We visit New York, London or Paris to see what our competitors and other aspiritional brands are doing. Once armed with all this information we will start to design the range and build it with the development team. From the initial trend research to signing off the range it is approximately 3 months.Where do you get your design inspiration? Are there any specific designers you look at?

As a designer you’re inspired by many things around you, art, fashion, and film. It’s a part of who you are – it’s an instinct. We look at all the catwalks from

New York, Milan and London to name but a few.

What are the key trends this season AW11?

• Docker style with a Nordic edge• Grandma’s attic - an eclectic mix

of femininity and urban cool.• 70’s bohemian with an artistic flair,

reminiscent of the Bloomsbury set• Celtic, grunge styling with a

handmade spirit

How do the garments differ to regular clothes – how does this affect the process of designing a new collection?Maternity clothing is all about the fit and styles that flatter the shape, good quality fabrics that feel great against the skin and are comfortable to wear. These are the things that are on the forefront of our minds when designing.

What are your top tips on dressing whilst pregnant?

• Don’t lose your identity just because you’re pregnant.

We offer all things to all people; we have a great selection of essential and basic product, great pieces for work, the weekend or special occasions. We never compromise on quality and always think of styles that flatter the shape.

Which are your favourite pieces from AW and why?

There are quite a few to choose from but I love the jersey rouched dress in city doll, a great piece to dress up or down. The stripe tee with button detail in Nordic tales, perfect with a pair of jeans - easy but yet stylish. How do you negotiate the balance between fashion and comfort? Both are as important as the other and we won’t compromise on either. There are some trends that don’t translate to maternity so we will never put a style into the range that doesn’t suit of flatter the shape.

What are your plans for 2012?

More of the same great product, we are planning to expand on our essential and basic product. Easy jersey styles that look and feel great. Fashion takes a step forward with more strong prints and good use of colour, making sure our customer has a broad selection to choose from.

Bump�fitting - If you’re shopping for maternity clothes you need to

think about your changing shape. To help you find clothes that will fit,

we offer a free bump fitting service so you can preview your

new look.

As you grow you can opt for either over or under the bump trousers or

waistbands both will stop uncomfortable pressure on your bump and

the over the bump pieces give you added support.

�Look�for�longevity�in�your�clothes – Look for pieces that will grow

with you. Adjustable ties and stretchy knits are great as they will grow

as you grow and can adjust back for after your baby is born.

Maternity SizingThe Mamas & Papas Maternity Wear Collection is available in sizes 8-18, with selected styles available in sizes 6-20. We fit all our garments on mums-to-be, but our sizing is based on your pre-pregnancy size. See our chart below for a size guide:
