Prepared for presentation at Strategic workshop MSI Nepal Nov9-12

Managing the PRESENT from FUTURE

Rajeeb Satyal’s presentation

•02/08/12 •2

Purpose

To look at our achievements and explore to make possible breakthroughs

Intended Result (Insinuated) to commit/select few

breakthrough projects for future

•3

Recognize different prospectives and try to enroll everyone

What do you see here?

•02/08/12•4

•02/08/12•5

WOW

It is not not only about numbers, graphs but also about passion and enthusiasm, loving what we do !

What we should really want people to say is

When they see our products or service and for that

•02/08/12We want more !!

What these people would have said they would want?

+devotion.

… it is fundamental to success, and determines whether a project is going to be successful or not. It is invisible. But it is as real and important as you and me. You can easily sense “enthusiasm”, (lack of it) when you talk to people, or when you go to visit an organization.

Quote from Rajeeb’s article “ Enthusiasm fundamental to success” ( Visit Rajeeb Archieve: http://rajeebsatyal.wordpress.com/2011/02/18/enthusiasm-key-to-success/ )

•02/08/12•7

Enthusiasmfundamental to success….

WOW

•02/08/12•8

What are few key “things” about MSI/SPN you can really say

Plenary discussion or group work depending upon the availability of time

The only I/NGO that provides Clinical services RH in the country

•02/08/12•9

WOWOne clinic in 1994 to 52 clinics in 2011

Almost self sufficient, creating another history

The only Organization that has the history of proactively and successfully advocating Safe Abortion in the world

•02/08/12•10

WOWAnd one of the few efforts started Nepal

But beyond & above, there have been a lot of higher side-impacts that might go unnoticed !

Abortion service legalized

More countries in the process of legalizing it

More people now supporting and appreciating the effort

Created entirely different market niche

•02/08/12•11 WOW

Widest Range of FP/SA services we can be proud of

Full range of temporary and permanent FP methods

Safe abortion service (surgical and medical )

Gyne checkup and consultation

Ante-natal and post-natal checkup

Child immunization

General health checkup

Treatment of RTI and STI

WOW

Success Story: impact on an individual life

Radhika’s husband often use Jodi condom as he loves it. But sometime it is out of stock. So Radha takes precaution and takes Feminyl FP pills to ensure postponement of her pregnancy. But few months back, she forgot to take pills for few days and was very worried. But she took the emegergency FP pills as suggested by the near-by medical store. That time it solved the problem, but again she became careless and forgot to take pill for so long that she got pregnant. But she did not want to become pregnant at this stage due to various domestic problem and wanted to abort it. But she was so scared to undergo clinical abortion. But one of her friends informed her that she can have medical abortion to solve her problem. It is readily available.

•02/08/12•13

First organization to launch pleasure condom

While most INGOs were hesitating to launch ribbed, flavored and colored condoms for the fear of being appeared to promote sex, SPN boldly, intelligently took the opportunity to market a high quality pleasure condom.

•02/08/12•14WOW

Incredible Achievement in Training (RHTC)

The exploratory research made by IPAS on October, 2008 about Improvement of the quality of CAC Service in Nepal

SPN/MSI’s overall CAC complication rate is around 1% which is the lowest complication rate as compared with others (Government. -6%, FPAN-6%, Private-3%)

This is because of our training center which has been dedicatedly developing competent (knowledgeable & skillful) human resource since its establishment

This training center is significantly contributing to national achievement of Nepal Government to develop service provider for FP/RH services. It is playing vital role to develop good relations with Government of Nepal & key stakeholders.WOW

Would you like to add more?

•02/08/12•16

WOWs 91 % market share of reported abortion case 61 % market share of sterilization

more than half million CYP

What worked so well in your organization that brought you these WOWs ?

•02/08/12•17
