Mandala of Dragon

Mandala translates as “circle-circumference” or “completion”. It has spiritual and ritual

significance in both Buddhism and Hinduism. Mandala is a piece of drawing that shows the Universe

from the human perspective. I designed my Mandala by drawing a round shape dragon for its frame.

Dragons are legendary creatures but they are the symbol of my lovely homeland China. Dragons are

particularly popular in China and the five-clawed dragon was a symbol of the Chinese emperors. Dragon

costumes area common sight at Chinese festivals. My Mandala is like a daily cycle and it has my symbol,

my nationality, my goal, peace sign, and my favorite thing. You will know the meaning of each thing as

you read on.

I think that I’m little bit talent at drawing and designing but I am not a good artist as you think.

Actually, I’m good at coping other people’s art work. You would say, “Wow! That’s almost identical”,

after I completed my job of copy. The fact is that I’m really good at design and I think that designing is

more important than drawing. You have to design before you draw something. I found out that some of

my friends created their own symbol and they just draw their symbols instead of writing their names on

other people’s year book. Their symbols are unique and attractive because of the design. After that, I

started to design my own symbol. My symbol has two letters D and L which is the abbreviation of my

English name David Li. The best place that I love is a beach with a bluish ocean. Therefore, I designed the

letter D with a wave shape. The letters D and L have eagle heads because I want to fly in the sky like a

eagle. I can imagine how comfortable and freely, if I am flying and traveling around the undiscovered

world. I wanted to make my symbol looks more fancy and cool; therefore I drew a crown in the middle

of the letters D and L.

I draw an American flag that combines with a Chinese flag. I want these countries stay in peace

forever. I’m a person who is from a great country which has the most population in the world and over

5000 years of history. The only thing I could tell you is that every World History text book mentions the

name of my country. Do you know what country is this? Here is a question for you, what is the location

of the Great Wall? I guess you are right, China! I was born in Beijing, the capital of China. My nationality

is Chinese and I am proud of that. My friends in China told me to remember that I am a Chinese before I

came to America in 2005. Nationality helps me to remember that in my heart all the time. In fact, I am a

patriotic person who love and support my country.

I draw a music symbol on a psp screen because I use to listen to music on my PSP. You probably

heard the sound of floating water, the sound of rain or the sound of wind. Do you know these are all the

nature music? Music is an art form whose medium is sound and it is everywhere. The elements of music

are pitch, melody, rhythm, tempo and dynamics. People use music for entertainment and to celebrate in

ceremonies. You can’t find any video games without music. Also, can you imagine a party without

music? Actually, music has a lot of good affects for people’s life. Music could take way your stress while

something bothers your mind. Angry causes you breathing hard, fast heart rate, and high blood pressure

and these are not healthy for your body. Listening to music could balance breathing and heart rate. It

could also lower your blood pressure. I got information from the internet and that says the music with a

strong beat can stimulate brain waves to resonate in sync with the beat, with faster beats bringing

sharper concentration and more alert thinking, and a slower tempo promoting a clam. Therefore,

everybody should listen to music. I think that my life can’t be perfect without listen to music. I also find

out that listening to some old music remands me the childhood. Music is the world language that

belongs to everyone and it tells everyone to stay in peace.

Do you know the power of nuclear weapons could destroy our beautiful homeland, Earth? How

you feel if one of your family members or your friends died because of a war? How you feel if you face

the death because of a war? These terrible things would not occur, if everybody loves peace with their

heart. Earth is like a home and we are brothers and sisters. We should be kind to each other and help

each other. If you trade other people in a good way, they would trade you the way as you trade them.

We also have to consider each other which mean we have to be generous to accept each other. These

are the ways to keep us stay away form fight and struggle. I feel sad about some people who don’t want

peace and bring war to us. The only thing for us to do is to stay the love of peace with our heart and I

believe that one day we could win. Therefore, I think that having the love of peace is important to

everybody.

Do you know what makes you success in your life? The answer is GOAL. You probably have a

purpose when you doing something. Another word for purpose is goal. There are two different goals,

the short term goal and the long term goal. What’s the difference between them? Think of you are a

tracking field runner who is ready for an exciting race. You have to pass every obstacle while you are

running. Each of the obstacles is like a short term goal. Your purpose for passing them is to get the first

place. To get the first place is like the long term goal. Therefore, all the short term goals build up a long

term goal. Right now, I’m a student and I have to get good grade on all classes. My long term goal is to

get an Audi TT. My parents always tell me to stop the day dream. The only thing for me think right now

is how to graduate from high school. High school is very important to me because everybody has to earn

enough GPA before they attend any college. My short term goals are to do my best to finish the high

school and attend a good college. Then I have to graduate from a college and get a good job. I have to

work hard to earn and save money for my Audi TT.. I find out a pattern which is the goal cannot be stop

in your whole life. Audi TT would remand me every short term goals which I have to accomplish before I

get it.

Life is like many mountain roads which I have to pass them. There are many ways for me to

choose. If I chose a wrong way, my life can be hard but I could change another road to get to the right

one. If I chose a right way, my life can be easy and I have to do my best to stay on the road. my symbol

is like a nametag that tells people who I’m I. My nationality is like my passport that I have to use while I

enter another road. Goals are like obstacles that I have to be more confident to pass them without any

fear. Music is like a power that gives me more energy and makes me feel happy. Peace sign is like a

shield that protects me form war attack. The only thing that makes me to pass any road successfully is

not to give up.
