Bull Machines Private Limited (BMPL) is a part of 45 years old engineering group
Sandfits Foundries Private Limited. The Sandfits Foundries Pvt Limited is started in the year
1962 by Mr. A.V. Varadharajan. The Bull Machine Private Limited is started by his son Mr.
V. Parthiban. Bull Machines Private Limited engaged in tractor attachment business since
1998.
BMPL is manufacture of tractor attachments such as LOADER, RADIAL
LOADERS, DOZERS and BACK HOES. The products are manufactured for various tractors
like John Deere, Mahindra & Mahindra, Sweraj Mazda, New Holland, etc. The company is
manufacturing equipments for municipal solid waste management such as self propelled
aerotiller and pulverier with latest technology. BMPL are leader in this tractor attachment
business having more than 85% of market share. The annual turnover of this company is
60 Crores. BMPL has recognized as in house R&D unit by ministry of science & technology.
This company has strong work force of 512 employees in this unit. This company is
manufacturing agricultural products in Harvester Department. The Harvester department
established in 2004 for manufacturing harvester machine for paddy harvesting. More than
4000 machines are running successfully in various segments. The company manufacturing 39
types of industry specific interchangeable bucket options for loader.
BMPL has recently started his new unit for manufacturing tractor attachments in
Sulur. The main objective of this company is to serve the nation by increasing the
employment by increasing the company unit allover India.
The products produced by this company are used in various segments such as -
Construction, Stone Crusher for Lime Stone, Paper Mill, Sugar Mill, River Sand, Brick

1. Working Rules
The working time of the company is classified into factory shift and office shift.
Factory shift : (I) 7.30 AM – 4.00 PM
(II) 4.00 PM – 12.30 AM
(III) 12.30 AM – 7.30 AM
Office shift : 9.00 AM – 5.30 PM
For attendance all the employees are required to work for the minimum of 8 hours.
The permission time given for the employees is maximum of 2 hours per month. If the
employees are late coming then the permission time is reduced depending upon their
late coming.

Privilege leave(PL) / Rest Leave allowed for the employees is 15 days per year.
Maternity leave is provided for 12 weeks per year according to Maternity Benefits
Act 1961.

Quantum of Advance
Maximum up to 2 months salary (or) 10,000, which is recoverable in minimum of five
equal monthly installments and maximum of ten equal monthly installments.
The employees have to follow certain procedure for applying advance.
4. Security Personnel: Rules and Responsibilities
To regulate the points of entry and exit in order to prevent entry of unauthorized
persons.
To provide sufficient number of security guards.
To protect company’s property and personnel on duty round the clock, including from
fire hazards.
Monitor and check vehicular traffic at gate and inside the plant premises.
To control the movements of goods inside and outside the plant with reference to
proper authorization.

PRODUCTION PROCESS
BMPL is an engineering industry manufacturing tractor attachments. Production is
done based on the job order given by the customers. Process layout is used for manufacturing
tractor attachments. For manufacturing loader, dozer and back hoes they are using 5-63 mm
sheets.
CNC Section
In production process first the metal sheets having 5-63 mm are sent to CNC
(Computed Numerically Controlled) section. In this section the CNC machines cut the

metal sheets into different shapes depend upon the manufacturing product. With the increased
automation of manufacturing processes with CNC machining, considerable improvements in
consistency and quality have been achieved with no strain on the operator.
CNC automation reduced the frequency of errors and provided CNC operators with
time to perform additional tasks. CNC automation also allows for more flexibility in the way
parts are held in the manufacturing process and the time required changing the machine to
produce different components.
Grinding
After the CNC section the small metal components are taken into grinding section to
reduce the unwanted small particles in the components by crushing.
Bend Removing
After grinding the metal components are taken to bend removing section to remove
the unwanted bends in the metal components. The bends are removed depending upon the
product.
Drilling
After the bends removed the metal components are sent to drilling section for making
holes. Drilling is a cutting process that uses a drill bit to cut or enlarge a hole in solid
materials. Different types of drilling like Spot drilling, Center drilling, Deep hole drilling,
Trepanning, Micro drilling, etc. Then the metal components are sent to work center for the
further process.
Work center
In work center all manufacturing process is carried out. The product is produced
based on the instructions given by the production planning and control department.

Welding
In welding section two metals and joined into single material. There are different
types of welding is used.
Reaming
A reamer is a metalworking tool used to create an accurate sized hole. The process is
called reaming. In BMPL some times they outsource the reaming work to other companies.
Assembly
In assembly section all the products manufactured in different section is assembled
into a singly product.
Quality control
Quality control is a process by which entities review the quality of all factors involved
in production. If any defect is found then it is sent back to work center section for correcting
the problem.
Painting
After the quality inspection is done the products and taken to painting section. Based
on the order different type of colour is used.
Testing
After painting is done the loader and dozer are tested by attaching with tractors.
Dispatch
Finally the products are dispatched to the customers.

and trolley are used for handling materials. Break down maintenance is used in the industry.

In Production Planning and Control Department planning, organizing, and managing
resources is done to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and
objectives. In PPC Department they analyze the engineering or technical aspects required for
the production process. This department plan for production and monitor the progress carried
out by the workers.

project's requirements. Execution process involves coordinating people and resources, as well

department CAD (Computer Aided Design) is used to develop new products for the
production. The engineers develop new products with different shapes and sizes. For example

BMPL has marketing head office at Noida. The marketing is carried out in all Regional
Offices. The marketing and service is done in all branch offices of this company. The
products produced by the company are used for construction, agriculture and industrial usage.
BMPL segment the market based on the location of customers. Market segmentation pertains
to the division of a market of consumers into persons with similar needs and wants. After
sales service of the product is done for 1 year. The company is selling his product throughout
India and in other countries like Sri Lanka and Germany. The company is going to import

The forms used are: order confirmation form, order cancellation form, order receipt, dealer
margin and travel expenses form. The sale of product is done through direct contact and

A copy of invoice is filed for each transaction. If C-Form are present then Tax is 4% for
Tamil Nadu and 2% for other states. If C-Form is not present, 4% tax for other states.

In BMPL there are about 85 computers and 25 printers are used. Most of the
Computers use Windows XP as an operating system. The company has appointed separate
workers for developing new softwares. Softwares are developed for various departments.

Training is given for all the end users. Separate login and password are given for the
end user. The vb.net is used for developing new softwares. Figure print machine is used for
entering daily attendance. The company got license and going to implement sap in future. All
the systems inside the company are connected using LAN.
The Systems departments analyze all the departments by collecting all the information
and develop new softwares. The sotwares are developed in such a way that it is user-friendly.
All the systems in the company is connected to main server. So all the information are stored
in the main server. The workers can access other systems except main server. Punching card
is used for entering into the server room. The systems head, senior programmer and junior

There exists a provision of the call for of the quotation and the same is wished to be enlisted
through form entries. Purchase orders are issued by the concerned officials entered through
the purchase order forms. Sales receipts are issued to the customer-dealers and agents, who
buy the pumps primarily through agency agreements.

In BMPL, ABC classification process is followed. This is an analysis of a range of
object into three categories. They classify the products based on the place of purchasing the
materials.
A - Important; B - Average importance; C - Relatively unimportant as a basis for a
control scheme.
STORES DEPARTMENT
It is the secondary auxiliary department of the Purchase Department. The main duty of this
department is to store the inventory and to supply it to the various departments when it is
required.
They stores department update the availability of stock to top management in order to
purchase the raw materials at right time. Tendering system is adopted for the purchase of
materials. It helps to avoid the personal interest in selection of suppliers and favoring in the
purchase of materials.
The stores department of a firm handles stock control. It involves buying of raw materials and
components and controlling stock levels. However, this can lead to a number of problems like
increased storage costs and a greater risk of theft or deterioration.
If stock levels are kept low, there is the risk of running out of stock. Production may have to
be slowed down or even stopped. Wages and machinery must still be paid for, whether the
firm is producing anything or not. Bin card system is also followed in stores department in
order to maintain the stock level

BMPL have more than 600 dealers for strong sales and service network. The pre sale
service for the products is done for 1 year from the date of purchase. If the problem is within
the guarantee period, the parts are well checked and If needed replaced completely and then
delivered. If the problem is outside the guarantee period, the bill for the changed spare parts
alone is prepared along with the service.
