Manitou Reduce (EN)TRANSCRIPT
TOGETHER, LET'S REDUCE OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT« To be the first manufacturer to unveil the consumption of its trucks can be a risk. We see it as an opportunity to share with you data that is essential to your purchasing decision »
MANITOU GROUP I OUR CSR APPROACHThe MANITOU Group is committed to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) through three areas of development: products and services, men and women and suppliers. In each sustainable development project that we lead, our aim is maximum customer benefit. An example of this approach is the REDUCE programme.
Provider of Sustainable
Solutions
We recognise the negative as well as the positive impact of our products and services on people and planet. We aim innovating to provide our clients with safe, highly efficient and sustainable solutions, in partnership with dealers and keys accounts.

OUR PRIORITY I ENERGY EFFICIENCYUnlike the automotive sector, material handling has not yet got a normalised cycle. We have therefore implemented a transparent internal protocol to communicate on our trucks' energy consumption. To give you clear, transparent and reliable information, this data has been verified by a recognised external body.
TEST PROTOCOL
SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS
Continuous improvement to reduce our trucks'
environmental impact Improve Measure
Development of an internal protocol for measuring our trucks' fuel consumption and CO2 emissions

TRANSPARENCY
A transparent, objective approach accessible to all
MEASURE I TEST PROTOCOLConsumption measurements are performed on four representative activities of a telescopic forklift: handling, bulk loading, idle and road work. This protocol is based on seven years of experience in consumption tests, field observation and exchanges with our clients.
TESTS PERFORMED UNDER INTENSIVE OPERATIONNAL CONDITIONS
HANDLING LOADING IDLE ROAD
Loading & unloading Duration: 60 min
Loading of bulk material into a trailer Duration: 60 min
Truck idling on flat ground Duration: 60 min
On a test track at maximum speed & engine speed
Duration: 60 min
Calculation made from a weighting between the truck's representative activities (g/hour).
For more information, check out the truck tests video!
VALIDATE I APPROVED PROCEDURESTo validate orientations adopted by the Group in terms of fuel consumption and to go beyond the usual communication made in this sector, based on data consumption reduction, we wanted to validate our procedures via a recognised external body.
DESIGNATED FOR TEST BY THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION AND THE UNO
Testing conducted by Manitou according to the EP-695 internal procedure validated by UTAC.
The UTAC* audited and verified that the tests comply with the procedure (cycles used, measurement methods, internal skills…).
*UTAC: Technical Union for the Automobile, Motorcycle and Cycle Industries performs official duty cycles in the automotive sector. UTAC is the only French Technical Service notified to the European Commission and the UNO for fuel consumption.
Discover UTAC on www.utac.com
INFORM I TRANSPARENCYWe have developed information and awareness tools (product labels, iPad simulator ...) to inform you about our trucks' fuel consumption and emissions.
LABELS ON TRUCKS
Calculate your fuel consumption: http://reduce.manitou.com
These show the fuel consumption during the two representative activities of the truck and its associated CO² emissions
COMPARATIVE LABELS
We test and compare our trucks with previous generations but also
with equivalent competitortrucks
Get the iPad app or go to your Apple Store
COMMUNICATIONTo support this approach we have also
developed tools.Find them on www.manitou.com
REDUCE APP'Check out our online calculator to customise your work cycle depending on your activity and estimate your fuel consumption, your CO² emissions and the economic gains
ASSIST I 23 SIMPLE TIPSManitou Group would like to accompany you in reducing your trucks fuel comsumption to help cut back your carbon footprint.
Choose a truck with power adapted to your needs
Switch off your engine after 3 minutes of idling
The best engine performance is at maximum torque
Choose reversible & electronically controled
ventilation systems
Favour electronically controlled 'smart'
transmissions
Use air conditioning with the windows and doors closed
Choose LED headlights Choose tyres to suit your environment
Check the tyre pressures Check the parking brake adjustment
Choose recommended manufacturers attachments
Check the overall condition of your trailer
Do not exceed the trailer's maximum load
Attachments must be adapted to the truck
Check the hydraulic settings of the attachments
Observe the maintenance intervals
Periodically clean the radiator, air filter...
Lubricate regularly Choose a manufacturer authorised dealer
Choose original manufacturer's parts
Follow the manufacturer's maintenance contract
You can do an Eco-driving course
Ask for the trucks' fuel consumption & emissions
Calculate your fuel comsumption & emissions
