The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey (MEOS) for the Q2 2014 is based on responses from 2,112 UK employers and asks whether they intend to increase or reduce the size of their workforce in the coming quarter. • The national NEO has ticked up from +5 to +6 this time round

• Outlook is still firmly in positive territory and suggests a net increase in hiring in the first three months of 2014 – the raw data (+7) is considerably more optimistic than last quarter

• Strong theme of consistency continues – the Outlook has been respectively 6, 6, 5, 6, 5, 6

• Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing is the most upbeat sector, on +15 – the first time it’s ever held top spot

• For the first time in six years, all the sectors are positive (including Construction)

• Large companies (+17) are more optimistic than they have been for almost a decade.
