Students will participate in a rotation of activities on Monday 14 th August from 9.00am -1.30pm. Each of the unit teachers has been asked to create a science activity. The children should be very engaged and excited at what is being planned. Thanks to Ms Lesley Dunlop for her initiative and organisation of this week. We are fortunate to have such dedicated teachers. The following week is Book Week. This is always a highly anticipated date on our school calendar. A note will be sent home this Friday with details of what is happening during Book Week. We have a team of dedicated teachers who are fine-tuning the details. Thanks to Mrs Bernie Scott for leading this initiative. PARENT SURVEY This week, 87 families have randomly received directions to log on and complete the parent opinion survey. It is very important for our school data that parents complete the survey. Please contact Lisa Gray at the school office if you experience any difficulties logging on. The survey is anonymous. We are only able to see the participation rate. At this stage, 30% of parents selected have completed the survey. Let us see if we can have 100% completion rate. The survey closes on the 27 th August. Thank you to those parents who have completed or received the survey. As in previous newsletters, this week we highlight a component of the parent opinion survey: REPORTING The three areas whereby schools report to parents include academic, welfare and administration. THANK YOU A huge thank you to Tracey Lindskog who has kindly donated a box of brand new children books. These books will be placed in our school library for all students to read and borrow. We also wish to thank Pearson for their kind and generous donation. GOODBYE Last Friday we said goodbye to one of our much respected and loved teacher aides. Tina Stewart has taken up a position at the Autistic centre. Tina has been with us for over 10 years and she will be sadly missed. We wish her happiness and success in her new venture. An appointment to replace Tina will occur in the next week. Parents please make sure if your children are walking or riding bikes/scooters to and from school they are aware of the roads around them. There was a near accident at the main round about near the Delatite Hotel last week.

Cheerio,

Julie McInnes

PARENT OPINION SURVEY 2017 WE WANT OUR PARENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents at each school. It is designed to assist our school in gaining an understanding of parents’ perception of school climate, student engagement and relationships with our parent community. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. The survey will be conducted online by ORIMA Research Pty Ltd and only takes 15 minutes to complete. The survey can be accessed via desktop computer, laptop, tablet or mobile at any convenient time within the fieldwork period from Monday 7th August to Sunday 27th August. Approximately 30% per cent of parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous. The survey results will be reported back to our school at the end of September. For further information please visit: http://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/teachers/management/improvement/Pages/performsurveyparent.aspx
