Hours of Operation

Summer 2016; Sum-

mary of Rules and

Guidelines

Beginning Saturday, May

28th, barring special events

or unexpected circumstanc-

es, the pool will open at 11

AM for member use, and

close at 9 PM. See the

Events Schedule in the pre-

vious column for planned

closures or special celebra-

tions.

The tennis courts are open

24/7. Please contact the

tennis representative (Gina

Lee) for information on ac-

cessing the courts.

Please consider the follow-

ing rules and regulations

for use of the Club facility.

1. No glass containers of

any kind may be carried

into the clubhouse, on

the tennis courts, on the

parking lot, and defi-

nitely not around the

pool. Please leave all

glass in your vehicle or

at home.

2. Do not park in the

striped area next to the

front door of the club-

house. Many children

move in the area, and

parked cars make it dif-

ficult for incoming traf-

fic to see the little ones.

3. Observe the signs

posted through-

out the clubhouse

concerning use of

the pool if you or

your children

have intestinal

problem.. Diar-

rhea causes us to

close the pool.

4. The Club facility

is a no-smoking

zone.

5. Lifeguards are

not posted at the

baby pool. Adult

supervision is re-

quired at all

times for the

young children in

the baby pool ar-

ea.

6. Your assistance

is appreciated in

keeping the Club

grounds clear of

litter. Please use

the garbage cans

and remove all

litter.

7. Towels, gog-

gles, and other

gear are often

left around the

pool during the

summer. Con-

tact the front

desk for lost

items.

Reminders From Your MHC Membership Committee

Please notify the MHC Membership Committee at [email protected] with address changes or other changes to your membership (e.g. email changes, additions to your house-hold, transfer of your membership). Accurate addresses are needed for MHC annual dues mailings, share sales refunds, etc. Up-to-date household member listings are needed to verify member entry into the pool.

If you have not done so yet, please complete the MHC Membership Survey emailed to the entire membership on May 2, 2016. This survey is being conducted to ensure that your personal infor-mation is correct and up-to-date in the MHC membership data-base. New shareholder members and leases for 2016 do not need to complete the survey.

Membership dues are payable each year by March 15th. If you have not paid your 2016 annual dues, your dues are over-due. You can pay your annual membership dues ($625 plus the $100 late fee assessed after the pool opens tomorrow) online on the pool website at www.mansionhouseclub.com or mail your payment to: MHC, Post Office Box 30, Mount Vernon, VA, 22121.

Annual dues are not "optional". Annual dues and special pay-ments are payable by each Shareholder while your share is for sale, and annual dues continue to be payable until such time as your Certificate of Membership is sold.

If you have any membership questions or concerns, please email the MHC Membership Committee at [email protected].

We have new vending machines!!

Thank you, Jamie Brewster When you come to the pool please stroll over to the portico and cast your eyes on our

new vending machines. They are bright, clean, and full of beverages and snacks.

The Board is grateful for the initiative taken by Club member Jamie Brewster on find-

ing the vending company. As a youngster Jamie worked in the snack bar at Mansion

House, and knew that we could do better. Last year Jamie contacted the Board and

volunteered to help us improve the vending situation. Jamie researched the alterna-

tives (few vending companies will support a summer-only Club) and found “It’s Deli-

cious Vending.” The company executive and rep have been very helpful to us.

Do you have an idea to improve the Club? Please contact a Board member, we’re all

ears when you have a proposal that makes Mansion House a better Club.

WELCOME TO THE 2016 MHC DIVE TEAM The MHC Piranhas Dive Team is looking forward to another great season of diving. We are very happy to have Tim Fisher returning as our Head Coach and Maggie Pi-onzio as our Assistant Head Coach. We are excited that Hailey Fisher will be joining our coaching staff this year as an Assistant Coach. Our team will be competing for our sixth year in Division 1 of NVSL Diving. MHC DIVE TEAM REGISTRATION - Registration is available on the pool web-site mansionhouseclub.com, in-person at the pool Memorial Day (May 30th) from 3-5pm, or at dive practices. Come meet the coaches and purchase a new suit and tie-dye shammie from 3-5pm Memorial Day! TRY IT OUT FOR A WEEK - As long as a safety waiver has been signed (copies will be available at practice or you can print it out from the pool website), your diver will be permitted to ‘try-out’ the dive team for one week before registration will be re-quired. The Piranhas Dive Team welcomes new members, so please come on out! Our dive team philosophy is to become the best divers we can, to demonstrate good sportsmanship & team spirit, and to have a fun & safe summer. PRACTICES - Until FCPS is out of school, practices will be Monday through Friday from 4-5:30 pm. If you have a conflict (swim/tennis/other sports/music lessons), come to as much of the practice as you are able. DIVE MEETS - Our first dive meet is at home on Tuesday June 28rd from 6 - 9pm. We will have two home meets hosting Walden Glen and Sideburn Run, and three away meets at Arlington Forest, Dunn Loring and Truro. There will be a few Monday morn-ing practices (when there are home Swim Team B meets on Monday evening). Tues-day practices will be our team warm-ups right before Tuesday evening meets. Wednesday morning practices are the day after a dive meet where we cele-brate with a Fun Day/dive team breakfast. Our Dive Team calendar will be posted on the pool bulletin board and is also online for easy reference. VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS - We must have volunteers to successfully run a dive meet. At every meet, we must have Judges to rate each dive on a scale of one to ten (there’s a chart to assist with this) and Table Workers to record diver scores on the diver’s sheet after each dive and then add up the diver’s score. There are NVSL clinics scheduled to teach you everything you need to know. The 2016 NVSL Clinic dates are posted online under the dive team calendar section and at the pool on the Dive Team sec-tion of the bulletin board. The training is free; no pre-registration is necessary! We will be using signupgenius.com again this year to schedule volunteers for home meet set-up, table workers, judges, referee, concessions workers, photographer, break-down/clean-up, and for our team end of year banquet). The link will be posted under the Dive Team “Volunteer” tab, and it will also be emailed to all dive team families. QUESTIONS? - Please contact the MHC Dive Team Rep, Heather Weidner,

at [email protected] if you have any additional questions.

Mansion House Club Tennis

The Mansion House Tennis Program is ready for a great 2016 season! All tennis classes and programs this year will be staffed by USTA professional coaches from the Mount Vernon Athletic Club. There are opportunities to participate for every age and skill level.

For children just starting out, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn the fundamentals from experienced coaches and have fun while learning this life-long sport. For more ex-perienced and advanced players, our professional coaches will help take their game to the next level, and experience with match play can be gained during our Wednesday and Sunday matches against other clubs in the Mount Vernon Community Tennis (MVCT) League.

What's New This Year???

Back by popular demand, extended season of 8 WEEKS, starting with afterschool classes on June 6th and morning classes on June 27th. See the full schedule on the Mansion House web-site.

Round robin matches among our own players on four consecutive Fridays in July. For players interested in learning match play, but may not get the opportunity for match-es against other clubs!_________________________________________________________________

REGISTRATION: Registration is available on the pool web-site mansionhouseclub.com or in-person at the pool Memorial Day Opening Weekend (May 30th) from 3-5pm. Come meet the coaches and tennis reps!
