1 IntroductionThis manual describes the safety measures required for the correct installation of

the unit CPD-3 in lifts and service lifts as well as some useful hints for choosing the sys-tem and the type of cell to be used in each assembly.

1.1 Fundamental characteristics

The following are fundamental characteristics of the CPD-3 weight controller:- Conditioning outlets for the cabin display, supply, analogical signal and excess

load signal- Four digit weight indicator- A connection of up to six load cells in parallel- Operating signal entry. It is used to block the unit once the lift starts moving.- Three relay contact outlets. Alarm to indicate minimum load, full load and excess

load.- Conditioning of the signal from the load cell by means of instrumental operational

amplifiers of low noise levels and high stability.

1.2 System selection

1.3 Operating description

Cabin load cell Measurement system with a precision of more than 3 in 3000 kgNumber of cells needed: 4Type of cell to be used : TCE 300/500 kg.

Load cell in cablesMeasurement system with a precision of more than 10 in 3000kg.Number of cells needed: 1Type of cell to be used: LC 1/3.

Load cell in engine bedplateMeasurement system with a precision of more than 10 in 3000kg.Number of cells needed: 1 to 2Type of cell to be used: BBP 1/3.

In unit CPD-3, all the variants are taken into account for weight measurement in liftsand service lifts.

To block the system when the lift is moving, the contact relay signal entry can beused. The unit works when the contact breaker is closed and it blocks when the contactbreaker is open.

The simul/zero potentiometer can be used to set the alarms.Page: 1

Install the four load cells in the frame so thatthe load carried by the cabin rests on thecells.

3) Place the cell in the selected place, position the clamp and uniformly tighten the twoM-12 screws which hold it in place.

1) Fit the buffers and the bracketinto cell LC.

2) Choose the ideal height to placethe load cell. This distance mustbe the furthest from the cabinand at the same time, make surethat once it is installed, it doesnot bang when the lift is on thelast floor.

1) Choose the idealplace to put thecells. This must bethe nearest point tothe draw of thecabin.

2) Lift the framing and fit in the load cell taking into account that when you place theframing onto the cell, this generates pressure without load interference.

IMPORTANT:Install 2 load cells formore measurement:precision .

IMPORTANT: Install 2 load cells formore measurementprecision

2) Weld an angle into the chosen place in the framing to hold the cell.

3) Using a M-12 screw, fasten the cell to the welded angle in the framing.

4) Tighten the clamping screw until the framing is totally released and all the weight issupported by the load cell.

NOTE: The effectiveness of this type of installation depends mainly to the correct loca-tion of the load cell in the framing.

1) Leave the cabin of the lift without any load (maintain it this way up to step number 3).

2) Turn the simul/zero potentiometer to the right or left until a zero is shown in the dis-play; touch it up with a zero potentiometer if necessary.

5 Weight SettingVERY IMPORTANT:TO BE ABLE TO SET THE UNIT, THE OPERATING SWITCH MUST HAVE BEENINSTALLED (CLOSED WHEN THE LIFT IS AT REST).

5.1 Display setting

PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTIONThe zero cannot be set The load cell is badly connect-

ed.The load cell is supportingmore than its nominal weight

Connect correctly.Changethe load cell for one with ahigher load range.

PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTIONThe display cannot be set tothe weight we want tointroduce into the lift.

The load cell is not receivingenough weight in relation to theload introduced into the lift

Check that the load cell iscorrectly positioned in theframing

IMPORTANT:

1) In the case of having made adjustments in the load cell, the CPD –3 unit will have tobe reset from the beginning.

2) Once the setting of the CPD –3 unit numerical indicator is finished, do not touch thezero setting potentiometer as a reset would have to be carried out again.

5) Unload the lift and check that thenumerical indicator displays a “zero”,set it with the zero potentiometer andrepeat steps 3 and 4.

3) To put a known weight into the cabin. (this weight must to be greater than the 50% ofcapacity´s elevator).

4) Turn the weight adjustment potentiometer and set the weight until the digital numeri-cal indicator shows us the exact “known” weight introduced into the cabin.

5.2 Alarm relay setting

1) Send the lift to an intermediate floor to compensate for the weight of the cables.

2) Turn the potentiometer until the exact weight with which we want alarm relay 1 to beactivated is shown on the numerical digital indicator . This weight must be less thanthe weight of a person; approximately 40 kg (minimum load). Regulate with thepotentiometer of alarm 1 until the corresponding activated relay led lights up.

3) Now simulate the exact weight with which we want alarm relay 2 to be activated(full). Regulate with the potentiometer of alarm 2 until the corresponding activatedrelay led lights up.

4) Lastly, simulate the weight required to activate alarm relay 3. (overload) Regulatewith the potentiometer of alarm 3 until the corresponding activated relay led light up.

5) Set to zero with the potentiometer simul/zero, and if necessary touch it up with thezero potentiometer.

5.3 Setting the level in the cabin display

1) Using the zero/simul potentiometer, simulate the exact weight which is considered asfull in the numerical indicator.

2) Deactivate the relay for full with potentiometer alarm 2.

3) With the signal ramp potentiometer, set to the level lower than the full sign (LEVEL“C”). At this point, reactivate the relay for full with the potentiometer alarm 2 andcheck that the “full” message is lit up.

4) With the zero/simul potentiometer set the zero on the numerical indicator, touch it upwith the zero potentiometer if necessary.

NOTE: The overload warning and the buzzer are activated when they lock up to over-load relay.
