DESCRIPTION1. The Graupner HoTT Bluetooth® v2.1 + EDR module provides a means of transmitting HoTT telemetry data from the model to a PC or Android device (fi rmware 2.2 or later) with Bluetooth® wireless technology capa-bility, wirelessly and in real-time. The Bluetooth® v2.1 + EDR module can be used directly with any HoTT transmitter without integral speech output, with fi rmware version V4 or later. The following transmitters can be used (correct at the time of printing these instructions):

mx-12 HoTT Order No. 4754, mx-16 HoTT Order No. 4755• mc-19 HoTT Order No. 4758, mc-22 HoTT Order No. 4759• Modul M-G1 Order No. 33000, Modul M-G2 Order No. 33002, module for mx-16s/iFS Order No. 33301• mx-10 Order No. 33110•

and any transmitter converted to 2.4 GHz using the modules listed above

Available data:The Bluetooth® v2.1 + EDR module transmits all HoTT telemetry data available - according to the sensors connected to the system - and provides a means of speech output.

The update facility makes it possible to maintain the Bluetooth® v2.1 + EDR module constantly at the latest state of development, and provides a means of expanding the system with future functions and updates via the Graupner Service Centre.

2. INSTALLING THE MODULE IN THE TRANSMITTERThe Bluetooth® v2.1 + EDR module should be connected to the DATA socket of the transmitter or module (Figs. A and C). You can also operate the module in Slave mode in conjunction with a Smart-Box or internal telemetry (M-G1 module) by using a Y-lead (Order No. 3936.11) (Figs. B and D). If you own an mc-24 (M-G2 module) you can simply plug the module into the DATA socket even if internal telemetry facilities are present. Connect the Bluetooth® v2.1 + EDR module to the DATA socket of the transmitter or module using the three-core lead. The connector system is polarised; note the small chamfers on the sides. On no account use force; the plugs should slide into place and engage easily. The sockets are also labelled accordingly: black wire (-), red wire (+) and orange wire (signal). Finally fi x the module to the outside or inside of the transmitter using double-sided foam tape or Velcro (hook-and-loop) tape. If you own an mc-19 / 22, the module can very simply be placed in the battery com-partment (Fig. E).

Generally these interruptions are very brief, and the transmission resumes perfectly afterwards. However, if the breaks in reception are fairly long, or if they occur frequently, then you should reduce the distance between the transmitter and the Android device. To close the HoTT Viewer fi rst press the Menu button and then “Stop”, as this disables the • Bluetooth® wireless technology connection (16). You can now close the program. The • Bluetooth® v2.1 + EDR module has a maximum range of around 5 m, and the connection is au-tomatically dropped if the range becomes too great; if this should happen, the on-screen connection symbol turns red. If the range is reduced and a connection becomes possible again, the connection is automatically restored, and the symbol once more turns green. However, it may well take a few seconds before current telemetry values are displayed again.

Read Point 6.6 for information on using this fi le.

6.2 InfoHere you will fi nd a brief summary description of all the functions of the HoTT Viewer. It is ideal if you forget the correct procedure when operating the system, and these instructions are not to hand.

6.3 SettingsIn the Settings menu you can set up the Viewer to suit your preferences, e.g. font sizes, colours or warning thresholds.Press the Menubutton and then „Preferences“. Basic method of operation:

Where menu points include an arrow symbol at the right-hand edge, a Select fi eld can be opened, and • the settings are accepted directly when you press the corresponding value; the Select fi eld then closes. However, if you do not wish to make any changes, press “Cancel”.Menu points with a bar must fi rst be activated by ticking that point. Note: the value can be adjusted by • pressing the + or - buttons, or by sliding the bar directly, but only while the point is not ticked. Once ticked, the value is blocked; this is designed to avoid accidental adjustment. If a particular entry is not ticked, then that setting - e.g. a warning threshold - is not active, and no spoken • warning will be generated.

The Settings menu is divided up into six blocks, titled as follows:

“Display settings” - where you can adjust the screen display of the HoTT Viewer to suit your preference, • e.g. colour scheme, type size and screen orientation.“Stopwatches” - where you can program the total time counter, the stopwatch and the run timer.• “Variometer” - here you can program the message repeat time for the Vario messages.• “Alarm Limits” - where the sensor warning thresholds can be adjusted in a similar manner to the “Set • Warning” function in the SETTING AND DATAVIEW menu of the Smart-Box.“Cycle Time Announcement” - here you can set the repeat time of selected spoken messages.• “Internal Logging Level Preferences” - you must not alter this. Default setting “error”.•

Context menu:A long press on the data display brings up this menu, where you can switch activated variometer and cyclic messages on and off.

6.4 Confi gurationIn the Confi guration menu you can determine the telemetry data which are to be displayed in the HoTT Viewer. You can store multiple confi gurations, e.g. for several models which are equipped with different telemetry sensors.Press the menu button and then „Confi guration“.

The pre-set standard confi guration is “GPS”: the data displayed in the HoTT Viewer are indicated by the • buttons marked red - in this case the data from the receiver and the GPS module. Pressing the buttons adds them to or removes them from the confi guration (grey buttons). If you wish to create your own confi guration, press the Return button • to leave the Confi guration menu.Press the menu button • and then „Manage Confi gs“. Before you start a model search / map view you must ensure that your Android GPS module is activated.Press the menu button and then „Model search/Map View“.

If a • Bluetooth® wireless technology connection is present, the “Map View” menu is active (caution: requires Internet connection!). If an Internet connection is not possible, you will see a grey background instead of the map.The model’s movement can now be followed live with the help of Google Maps: the aircraft symbol • indicates the position of your model, the red dot the location of your Android device (21).If you are forced to carry out an “out-landing”, you can very simply locate your model again using “Model • Search”. It makes no difference whether the model is switched on or not, as the HoTT Viewer remem-bers the last position of the GPS module.Disable the wireless connection - either by switching off or removing the transmitter - and press the • Return button * to leave Map View.At this point press the menu button • and then „Model search“. Note: it may well take thirty seconds before “Model search” appears.Hold the Android device straight (parallel) in front of your body, and walk forward.
